This didn't make me want to become a vegetarian, but a horror manga with a very similar premise did. It draws a parallel to how animals are sadly fattened up by force just to be killed for our consumption. I saw two pages of that happening to kidnapped humans and I immediately became even more depressed. Just hearing the summary and seeing those two pages made me think about becoming a vegetarian. Tho I'm still on the fence about it because my family lives on meat. I also pray that manga doesn't get an anime because depression levels will spike through the roof more than they already are if it does.
@jcqlnr4642 жыл бұрын
Fun fact, you may already know but, this movie was considered a social commentary on the meat industry and the cruelty of it. When you see the close up shots of Sally's eyeballs during the dinner table scene, it was mimicking the fear of the animals knowing they are about to die in the slaughter houses. Also speaking about the infamous dinner table scene..if you didn't know, there was actual rotting flesh in that room and it was filmed during the summer in Texas and the temp was around like 100 in there. The actors would have to leave the room to go outside to throw up.

Holy crap. It is so nauseating its enough to put anyone off meat. Farming is huge in Ireland, its so entrenched in our culture. There are festivals, farming association events, its just everywhere. I hate farmers, they are greedy, apathetic to animal welfare, because they are just products to them. I hate seeing all the baby cows and lambs with tags on their ears; you know whats coming for them. The worst thing is seeing the packed sheep and cattle trucks driving up and down the road in the middle of summer, the heat must be unbearable.

The OG Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the GOAT! It’s an absolute masterpiece! Even more fascinating is the story of its production. It’s fun to watch newbies experience it’s brilliance for the first time. I often hear “Why does she keep screaming?,” as if watching your brother get killed before your eyes by a chainsaw wielding maniac wouldn’t mess you up, keeping one’s cool would not be an option, come on now lol Also, the gas station worker is the older brother of Leatherface and the hitchhiker (Nubbins). It’s a common misconception that he’s their father, I thought it myself for many years. But later found out he is in fact their older brother, Drayton (the cook). You obviously have excellent taste choosing to watch the OG. Keep those horror reactions coming! Much love!

By all accounts, everyone was losing their minds by the end of production. All of the dinner scene was shot in one, long, grueling 16 hour day (supposedly because the actor who played Grandpa didn't want to have to go through the make-up process a second time) during a terrible heatwave with triple digit temperatures, in a house with no ventilation, stinking of sweat and rot from the animal parts on set.

This movie was inspired by the serial killer and grave robber of freshly buried corpse’s body parts Ed Gein. He made all sorts of arts and craft from body parts…a belt with nipples, a human skin shade, etc. This was back in the 1950s, I think and in rural Wisconsin, I think. He killed 2 possibly 3 people. He was caught and died in a mental institution years ago. There are many documentaries on him on KZbin.

The inspiration behind this film came from the life and crimes of a grave-robbing mass murderer Ed Gein. Made a lot of furniture and certain clothing (wigs and chest plates) outta dead people. He died while institutionalised. This 1974 horror flick was not the only fictional work to be inspired by Gein - there was a novel from Robert Bloch called Psycho (the Alfred Hitchcock film and the Bates Motel TV series are based on the novel) and Silence of the Lambs - the sequel to Red Dragon by Thomas Harris (along with the cinematic adaptation by Johnathan Demme). There’s other films within the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. The best of them are Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and the 2003 remake and its 2006 prequel along with it, the Leatherface family origin film yet a prequel to a remake. Gunnar Hansen’s Leatherface is how you described him to be - chaos and horror personified! He’s so popular that his incarnation of the character did end up in Dead by Daylight. And yes it was a real live chainsaw used. P.S. Leatherface is definitely an LGBTQ icon! WOOOOOO!!!!!

Leatherface and his family was inspired by serial killer Ed Gein the ghoul of Plainfield Wisconsin... Each member of the family represents a different aspects of Gein's fractured mental health and disorders and Leatherface is the most like Gein of all and with the 3 masks he wears represents different personalities "Killing mask...old lady mask...and the pretty lady mask" Once Leatherface wears a mask he assumes that personality
@thomasjohnsonwolfbane5494 Жыл бұрын
Also the 3 killers are all brothers....the cook is his older brother and nubbins the hitchhiker is his lil brother and then you have grandpa.... Now the killer mask is for when Leatherface hunts and kills...old lady mask is for when he does domestic work like cooking and cleaning and etc... then the pretty lady mask is for when Leatherface is is feeling special and trying to look his best

The girl placed on the hook was actually in pain while filming they had her wearing a harness that caused her a ton of pain. So that pain she's showing in the movie is actually real. Something else that was real were all the skulls and bones. They didn't use anything fake for the human and animal bones as well as the teeth. The dead armadillo at the start of the film was also real. the food on the table as well as the decorations on the table of the chicken and it's legs were real and started to rot during the entire time they filmed. people were getting sick the whole time the movie was being filmed. During the dinner scene, Sally's finger was actually cut by Gunnar Hanson (Leatherface). He got carried away. Catering also did some pot brownies and some of the cast and crew ate them by accident including Leatherface. As LF comes through the door after cutting it, he scared a crew member that was to his left, off screen. the crew member was also high. LF was also high during that scene and he got confused when he saw the crew member run away. notice he looks to his left as he comes into the house. LF had kind of forgotten where he was for a second, then remembered and continued to chase. Many chickens died due to being locked up in that small cage. Turns out that when chicken is in a very confined space for way too long they get heart attacks. Also they are all brothers, the Cook aka Drayton Sawyer is not the dad, he is the oldest brother.
