I Love your videos - mitten peeps are my peeps. The Blake's hitch & leather cambium saver video was very inspiring to me, breaking down the several thousands dollar barrier a person can feel from watching all the videos from decked out professional arborists. I'm a noob who made the plunge after finding a $70 rated Sequoia knock-off SOB harness. Now I'm tinkering with a friend's gifted hitch climber pulley evenings in my garage. I missed the opportunity to order an eye on my first rope. After nearly swearing off the whole industry as bonkers, I finally read the hitch climber pulley manual. I'm using the floating prusik method to work around the termination knot-hitch interference problem, and I love the adjustability. An adjustable harness bridge makes a lot of sense if/when I decide to add a second rope bridge and/or SRT. I noticed some KZbin arborists using the Petzl micrograb as a bridge adjuster.

I learned sooooooo much from this single video. Firstly was safety. Secondly, however equally important, is the fact that you really need to be in shape to do this. You’re upper body core strength has to be optimal….or you won’t make it 2 feet off the ground. Sheeeesh!!!!

Yeah, being in shape is definitely nice, however, I’ve taken every shape of person recreationally climbing and if you can find the technique to fit the person they can do it. There’s more than one way to skin a cat and the tree care industry is no different.

I just bought the petzel adjust and it has the molded plastic over the sewn ends.

Have you ever experimented with the thin dyneema lines or other winch based lines for bridges? Some of them are pretty flexible, and I think easy to splice.

I have done dyneema core based splices, however they take some treating to make them nice and durable and I’m not a fan of doing the polyester dip treatment and even then they feel so vulnerable. Not a huge fan but I know they’re plenty durable, but still not my favorite.

I have seen several equipment retailers that state that the rollnlock is not suitable for use as a rope bridge or lanyard length adjustment device, or for primary life support.

Awesome video. Was not familiar with this option for adjustable bridge. Is it worth the trade off of those beautiful tree motion lower-D's? How long does it take to setup/install from a default tree motion harness? Thanks!

Personally it’s absolutely worth it for two reasons. The versatility for SRT and DDRT with an adjustable bridge are incredible and the compact package of the Open Ring and Adjust are the absolute most streamline thus far. Secondly the tree motion lower Ds are great if you use them with your lanyard to position. I use them very rarely so I don’t mind not having the slightly more ergonomic lower Ds. I’m a more dynamic climber so I really don’t like how my lanyard feels in my way when I use the Lower Ds. The install changeover takes maybe 30 min if your sewing machine is setup. Longer if you manually see the terminations which wouldn’t be terrible either, maybe an hour if you’re familiar with whipping rope.
