I have used both croll S and croll L on training class, I don’t feel the S is bothersome. However, after listened other caver’s advice when I bought my own equipment I bought croll L. Plot twist, I use SRT for rock climbing photography more than caving, I now miss the compact size and weight of croll S.😭

Have you noticed that the Croll S doesn't sit as "squarely," or perpendicular to the climbers body as the Croll L, especially when using the Petzl Omni, and is there cause for concern here? I have both, but I like the way the L sits and moves up the rope.

I have not noticed this. What chest harness are you using, and how is it attached to the top of the Croll? I've seen people use a small maillon at the top of the Croll, which causes a slight twist. It's designed to be used with webbing.

Derek Bristol I have a Garma and a Speleshoulder and try to run the strap under the croll from right to left. I think the issue is the smaller attachment hole on the Croll S. Interested to hear your thoughts

I also have those two chest harnesses and thread the strap through the Croll same as you describe. That certainly would not cause the Croll to twist.

Petzl Croll S, a dangerous piece of equipment that has nearly killed a number of cavers! Metal plate wears exceedingly quick and is hard to inspect to see when wearing. Once worn it becomes razor sharp and cuts into ropes like a knife through butter! NOT GOOD!!! There are a number of forums about this showing the razor sharp plate and cut ropes!
