Petzl Croll self opening situation

Petzl Croll or other manufacturers chest ascender can "self open" during climbing. Risk level of "self opening" depend used equipment setup and climbing style.

Pienso que es mala técnica. Es insuficiente el largo del pedal, de serlo, el puño jamás toparía con el CROLL. En este caso con un PUÑO izquierdo no ha de ocurrir esto, pero con ambos puños la longitud del pedal debe ser la correcta. No es defecto del CROLL, sino desempeño de mala técnica previa.

No, this can happen. What can happen will happen one day to somebody, it's just Murphy's law. I've been working in rope access for 12 years, i've seen stupid things happen to great workers, so thanks to this person to show this.

It's due to incorrect usage of SRT

He is not using SRT. He is just not using a Back Up Line because it is not necessary for demonstration. What he does is showing the worse Case that can happen to anyone when beeing exhausted or unconcentrated.

That's why you run the rope through your descender and forget the chest ascender for progress capture.

Was thinking the same thing. If you have anything above your ascender, there is always the possibility of it coming down on your device. Removing the hand ascender would elimnate this.
