Great review just grabbed the Alveo . Looking forward to ditching my 3m hard hat. Petzl is an excellent company one of the best.

Both excellent helmets, I have the Alveo and like it and trust it. When at work I see way more Vertex helmets.

Both of your helmets have clips to hold any headlamp with a strap on them, so you can definitely use the old headlamp.

Very helpful. Petzl replaced alveo with strato in 2019, but it weighs more...

Thanks Xi, they are probably all good.

it would be like the pot and kettle thing if I were to sound the dork alert. This is an interesting vid but I find you an interesting dude! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!! Ciao

Ciao! I'm pretty good at looking dorky, but then I've always thought I set my own fashion.

Nice find, thanks for sharing. I would be interested to find out which helmet you like better.

I've only used the Vertex so far, but I love it!

Does safety have any issue with the helmet? I like the idea of the chin strap that snaps. That company issue helmet is terrible for the strap falling off at the most inopportune times. I'll be looking at getting one when I get back from my tour.
@CraigRyan7 жыл бұрын
These helmets exceed any standards and are a step up from the normal hard hat. I'm liking it.

hi craig. How's the battery consumption on that pixa 3? I am thinking of getting the pixa 3 or the 3R. Thanks
@CraigRyan4 жыл бұрын
Think carefully. I would get an inexpensive LED headlamp for a lot less money currently.
@boombaztik4 жыл бұрын
@@CraigRyan will take note of that. any other great cheap LED headlamp which will fit that petzl vent helmet?

Now that you are no longer living the flatbedder dream, do you have any use for this at Carter? If you'd like to part with it I'm interested in buying it.. I just started a couple months ago with TMC and would like a better helmet than what I'm given.

Do you think I could wear this at a regular construction site?
@CraigRyan5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the requirements of the site. Type 1 is Type 1, Type 2 is Type 2. 95% of places with hardhats are Type 1. This is Type 1.

Have you or anyone you know tried the QuickWinch tool with straps? Does it save any significant amount of time?
@CraigRyan7 жыл бұрын
I haven't Michael. Maverick has our trucks set up with removable straps so we can get them out of the weather. Thanks for the link, others may find it useful!
@michaelslade57477 жыл бұрын
Didn't even look at the straps, it was the ratcheting winch bar that I thought was interesting!
@CraigRyan7 жыл бұрын
Got it! I've seen those. I wonder if the winch has to be modified? We change trailers very often and it would have to work in any trailer we run.

seems like it has better airflow than kask plasma.

@@CraigRyan i like that you can choose to have air or not.. i have a kask plasma. and i like it. even if it has it foults. like you need adaptors for earmuffs. and headlights. it is comfortable. but i hear hotter than others. i havent tryed petzl. btu it seems like a good design. i got the kask. for fashion i must admit.. im danish and wanted one in red and white.. hehe.. and its a nice one too.. no doubt.

Hi Mr. Craig, where is Petzl Hard Hat made from ?
@danielvas4 жыл бұрын
Petzl is a French company but they're products are made in different countries of the world not only France. Some of their harnesses are made in Romania but the helmets and some hardware are made in France
@nathanmayo19187 жыл бұрын
Neither of the helmets are rated for side impact
@CraigRyan7 жыл бұрын
Good point Nathan, the ANSI Z89.1 certification designates Type I and Type II. Type I is for top impact protection while Type II also offers side impact protection. A vast majority of the helmets on the market are Type I. I felt the Petzl products were a great compromise of safety, weight, and ventilation for the work I do. Thanks for the input. If you search you will find Type II compliant helmets that are available.

Hey nice holes drilled for the zip ties holding your lamp holder. I'm pretty sure that's not permitted, so don't follow this example, fyi.
