Hi Sophie, sorry you have the Previous player, this is just for the SMEG+ , normally these updates are just bug fixes and slight improvements, it’s the hardware that makes the difference , it won’t give you more than you already have :(

Bit late to the whole Smeg update thing , I'm sure you've moved on from Smeg versions lol . I recently got a 2013 208 GTi . The version I have is Smeg 3.15 Br1 . Is there any point in updating it . There's only one theme I can choose which is blue ,or aquara I think it's called . Be great to hear back on any information or help as I don't want to just buy a new radio I like original.

Hi, not really to be honest lol, this one has a red theme (well it is on mine), it wont give you any extra features unless your hardware has it built in :) The only thing i would say it might have a full bug fixes etc.

Hi, on the forums they recommended to keep the motor running, but I'm pretty sure I did it with the ignition on, maybe play safe and keep it running, only takes 5 - 10 mins 👍 Mine had DAB already, yours hasn't?

Hi , sorry for the late reply I'm not sure if you can install mirrorlink, I can't on the Smeg+ , I think it's a hardware requirement on the player, I'll have a look on the forum and see what they say :)

I think you have the Smeg+iv2 , not got one of those , but if you join up on the forum on the description you will find the updated firmware for your car entertainment system. I should imagine the update will work the same as us lowly Smeg+ owners 😉 good luck!!

Millie hi, I think the car play is a hardware issue, the software upgrade probably won’t help, like me I upgraded hoping to get extra features but unless you have a capable player, you just get newer bug free software.

try different usb sticks. Also it depends on previous firware, some are not compatible. This can be tricky.

Hi Craig, it all depends what version you have, I have a 63 plate and I'm running the Smeg+ , if you can find out what software version you have, you can find out what player you have, I'm gonna take a guess and say the 1st Smeg not the Smeg+, so you might be running 3. Something, go into the settings and find the firmware revision. :) , Also if you check out some of the other posts below , it might help :)

Hi, you have a lot newer player than me, all I can suggest is to sign up to the forum in my description below the video, the date looks crazy to me on your version, I'm hoping someone can help you on there :) , you might just need to reflash the firmware and you'll be ok :)

Hi, you probably have the Smeg+ console the latest version of the firmware is 5.42.B.R4 , the link for the firmware is in the description above, it just has bug fixes and better compatibility, if you have no issues you might want to keep the version you have :) it's up to you, hope that helps 👍

Hi, it might be the type of USB drive your using , and make sure it's been formatted to fat 32.

@@sp8rk it is an 8GB USB 2.0 simple flash drive, it is a Kingston. I'm sure it is formated fat32. I tried with 2 different flash drives, same problem.

Hi, it's the full update from the GT model , but unless you already have the ability to use GPS etc it won't give you it , sorry I was hoping the same thing :/ just gives you the latest firmware with bug fixes etc

the upgrade does absolutely nothing. Nothing changes, you have no satnav options like other videos show. You have no app of net access like other videos show.

This is only for Smeg+ , if you have the earlier Smeg player it's different firmware, check out the forum in the link, you should find the one you need, and should be the same procedure :)

Hi, I think most of the time it's either the type of USB stick or it's in a folder, when it should be just on the stick ( if you know what I mean) :/

Hi, its down to the hardware in your car, you will probably need a new unit.
