I have a GT in that colour, with red interior, but it's engine develops 225bhp and certainly is no slouch. It certainly draws the eye and I have caught many folks staring as I pass them. It's beautiful to look at, comfortable to be in and sublime to drive. This is my 4th Peugeot in succession over 20 years (Two 406s, a 407 coupe) and I LOVE it. It's just out of this world. My valeter came and drove it off to polish and ceramic coat it. When he came back with it, he said that had he been blind folded, he would have sworn he was driving an Audio or Merc. RE the paddles: I use them to select a lower gear when I want to gradually slow down. Otherwise, the gearbox does all I ask of it. Also, I have two mates at work, both Audi A4 owners who want one after a single 5 minute lap around the block in my 508.

I've owned Peugeots for over 23 years now ( a collection of 406s But I've now Purchased the 508 R8 First edition SW in Twilight Blue with Red Napa Leather its amazing, I love everything about the vehicle, It took me over nine months to find to my First Edition SW I've had a couple of issues with the vehicle aircon leaking sunroof vibration which Hatfield Peugeot resolved for me, after Peugeot UK ignored my concerns, even the stone chip paint damages to the front edges of the sills Hatfield Peugeot even got this resolved for me as well, after I'd opened five claims with Peugeot UK of which were all ignored, so really NOT impressed with the customer services at Peugeot UK. The vehicle was 18 months old when I purchased it with 12,676 miles on the clock, Peugeot motor company registered the vehicle but the vehicle came with only one stamp in the service & that was the OME service book that should have come with the vehicle so wasn't able to put extended warranty on the vehicle again NOT happy when the vehicle was registered by Peugeot themselves. The dealership I purchased the vehicle from cannot be trusted Peugeot Truscott's of Exeter, the vehicle had extensive stone chip damages over the whole front of the vehicle, sadly the dealer tried to ignore the concerns but I ended up going to the motor ombudsman & had my claim upheld so the dealership had to reimburse just over 3k so I've put the money back into the car as its only one of 23 508 R8 SW First Edition in the UK so the vehicle is very rare indeed. I'm in the process of putting a Full Maxton Design Body Kit on the vehicle & saving for a set of BC Forged rims which are an arm & a leg, but they are going to look really cool on the vehicle once I get them. So keep your eyes open out on the road as you might just get that chance to see my PUG.

I had a 405 GLD Estate as a firms “Pool Car” in 1995 (N153BMC) and that poor soul had 45 different drivers who used it for anything and the standard of driving was “variable”. In 45,000miles that car had not one fault...not a thing and the only replacement was a vandalised rear wiper blade. I really enjoyed its warm, comfortable, beefy performance and ability to remain composed even when laden with display equipment, bicycles, stacks of pamphlets, tables and chairs....anything. I once had an emergency delivery to Woolacombe from Bristol and two hours to get there including loading OHP equipment, screens, speakers, 500 leaflets, training guides...and it dealt with it with aplomb and a rather good turn of speed! I guess that 508 is a good successor.....understated, no image...big depreciation but a very nice car to own for real world hard work. A very good car!!!😎😎😎

I really enjoyed your review of the 508. My late Mom taught me how to drive in a Peugeot 504 when I was 12, and I have been driving continuously since. So Peugeot does bring back fond memories for me. The only Peugeot I owned recently was the beautiful RCZ but I just could not get along with the awful automatic gearbox, which was at odds with the rest of a really great little car! Come on, Peugeot, bring back the Mi 16 but this time with electric motors driving the rear wheels to supplant the THP 1.6 driving the front wheels.

My second car was a Peugeot 205, and I absolutely loved it. Wasn’t a GTi, it only had a 954cc engine, but it handled well and had lots of personality. Electrics and general reliability was shocking. I had a number of other marques now over the years, and am now in a 3008 GT Line. Have it 2.5 yeas now, and never done anything wrong. Very reliable, even to the MINI Countryman CooperSD before it. The 508 is simply stunning. The use of the shortcuts and screen become second nature after about a week.

Excellent as ever Pete - informed and unbiased review - great looking car - but then I’ve always had a thing for Saloon cars - hence the Saab - but an all singing all dancing high performance 508 would be a lovely thing - but sadly I fear, just like the regular 508, people won’t buy them in the numbers needed to justify it - shame really. Anyway, loving the vlogs as ever - keep up the amazing work bud and as always if you’re up in Manchester you’re always welcome to come and drive the Saab. All the best.👍👍

Great review of this new Peugeot. Over the last 40 odd years of motoring, I have owned 6 Peugeots including a couple of 504s, two 505s (including GTi) 405 Mi16 ( which at the time was considered the best handling FWD car) and a 406. Since then I have migrated to BMW but the Peugeots were great driving cars; very comfortable long travel suspension meant you could drive these cars all day. This new 508 looks the goods but I think the SW is the looker, plus it has more rear seat headroom.

I had a 52 reg 206 and 55 reg 307 and my Dad had 2 consecutive 405s one of which was an STi trim. I see the stalks have never changed! Given the problem with car theft these days, perhaps manufacturers should go back to older security features: One of 405s had an Immobiliser that operated from a keypad in front of the handbrake. I feel Keyless entry is too vulnerable. Great video as always. Keep it up! 👍🏻

It's a great looking car and a great saloon full stop. I grew up with many Peugeots in our family and owned a 207 and a RCZ both with THP engines. I hope they have figured out all of the weak spots on the latest Puretech iteration. I've driven the 508 and would recommend to take the panoramic sunroof. It's just a bit too dark inside for my taste without it.

The performance specs you gave are for the GT which has the 227PS version of the 1.6L. The GT Line is 0-62 7.9 secs and 140mph. I would take either though as I love the shape of them, such a classy car. I have a 308 GT Line with the 1.2, 3-cylinder 130PS engine at the moment and I love it. Looks stunning in metallic grey and that little engine is a lot of fun and sounds great, even without assistance from the speakers in non sport mode. ;) I'm from the 'anything under 2 Litres isn't worth a look' generation. ;) At least I was until I drove that little turbo unit. I'll have no problem with a big 508 and one of the 1.6s. I imagine the 227PS version is no slouch. Thanks for the great views/review. :)

Well the Mi16 was "Motronic Injection". And they wouldn't be using that anymore. On that subject, back in 1992 approx, we had two 405's in the household. My Mi16 and my dads 405 1.9 GR. Which was a twin choke carb setup and clearly 8v. For out and out performance when caning it, the GR was quicker. Yes honestly. The Mi16 never really felt all that. Maybe i had a bad one i dont know.

Great review Pete. Good to see you're extending your motoring contacts with Peugeot. I've been lucky enough to have owned a Citroen XM, Renault Safrane and Citroen C6 from new in the past so Peugeot is really banging on an open door with the 508 as far as I'm concerned. So much so that once I heard the likely release date of the SW e-Hybrid I've extended the lease on the Volvo in order to have one. It is a beautiful vehicle but Peugeot need to address the many problems with this model. Paint issues front edges of the wills become heavily stone chipped. As does the front of the vehicle my 22 month old First Edition has 4K worth of stone chips damages, of which I'm fighting with Peugeot Truscotts to get these paint damages corrected. Via the motor ombudsman, as Peugeot UK turned there backs on me when the issues are down to Peugeot due to the facts that they only put two coats of paint on New vehicles when they used to put six layers of paint on ever New vehicle. Same on Peugeot UK for not addressing the problems on my vehicle. I the Icey weather owners are locked out of there vehicles due to ice on the Windows as the glass locks up which stops you getting into the vehicle as the Windows have to drop 5m for the doors to be opened but when the Windows Ice up the Windows don't drop. Roof bar come undone many owners in the club have encountered this issue. All the metal on the door trim & dash gear lever all condensate up badly in the cold weather this is something that needs addressing with Peugeot but they must know about these issues as they test vehicles in cold conditions so I don't know why these issues have not been addressed. Front headlight condensate up inside badly this in the end will mess the LED headlights up & these are £1800 pounds each to replace. Inside of the front windscreen condensates up really badly like rain inside the vehicle on the inner side of the front screen. This will cause numerous problems when the condensation runs behind the dash into the wiring loom. Peugeot UK's lack in response to all the above is evident to peugeot & they are just turning a blind eye to what customers are having to put up with. I'm planning for my vehicle to go into peugeot Robin Days to have the elc roof vibrations resolved, headlights condensation issues, Panels issues out of line wings front top panel bonnet are all out of line, Front edge of the sills peugeot have refabricated the front wheel tubs so I'm asking that they are replaced. all under warrant as the vehicles warranty runs out the middle of 2022. I'll do an update when the vehicle is returned to me.

@@PetrolPed To be honest I'm totally disgusted with peugeot UK's lack in response to the problems on the vehicle. They don't want to know.

Peugeots always had nice design of their cars. Only problem back 10 years ago or so when i tested a new one from them, was their gear boxes... Which can be described as ughh so ratteling... Its okay on a small car like some Suzuki models. But Peugeot isnt famous for making any good small cars are they? This one looks awesome though. Hope its a good drive & ride?

I'd love one, but unfortunately, in the UK (and it is a UK only thing), French brands are not popular, therefore resale value drops. Ok, you could argue it's great if I choose to buy a second hand one. but then it'll take ages to sell on. I had the same predicament years ago when I fancied a Laguna Coupe. I ended up buying a bog standard Mercedes instead, just so I could part with it quicker later. Buy a Merc, an Audi or BMW, it'll be gone the next day you put it on sale. That's the thing. But it doesn't take away from the French, they make some cool cars when they want to.

Another awesome video, Mr. Petrol Ped! It is good looking but the BEST looking saloon is still the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
