If Coen leaves the biggest loser in all this is Baker Mayfield. He needs stability in the systems and coaches.

They are gonna run it back next year. I do agree some new blood on the defensive staff side would be beneficial. The middle of the field was a liability all year. The pass rush had no chance to get to the QB. Our corners had no over the top or underneath help from the safeties. Bowles did a heck of a job convincing LVD it was 2019, and teaching Tykee and Izien how to be swiss army knives. The defense has to work in tandem at all three levels and the back two never got going. Glass is half full with a full hand of draft picks and some cap room to make adjustments. He's still the best coach in the division...

@Scott R - the defense drops its OLBs into coverage too much??? You remember this is a 3-4 defense, right? If you’re not dropping 1 of 2 OLBs, you’re rushing 5 every down. I don’t understand your thinking the OLBs shouldn’t drop so much. 1 of the 2 almost has to drop each play. Where am I wrong?

In 2020 and 2021 neither JPP nor Shaq Barrett dropped more than 13% of the time. Yaya Diaby dropped 17% of the time this year, and JTS and Anthony Nelson dropped around 25%. I think that was too much.

They need to draft defense (& maybe a center to move Barton to a position more suited toward his strengths).

Defense, yes. I think Graham Barton will level up next year after a year's worth of experience similar to how Cody Mauch did this year.

You want talk about Washington beating up Detroit because there defense bang up . Tampa Bay defense was also bang up and held the Washington to only 23 points.

Bucs were missing 1 starter on defense against the Commanders, SS Jordan Whitehead. CB Jamel Dean missed the second half, and that proved to be costly. Lions had 4 starters out before the game and lost 3 DBs during the game.

Man I hope Jason Licht and Todd Bowles know what they’re doing in regards to keeping the assistant coaches. They must believe that it’s the Jimmies and Joes who need to be upgraded. If this is the case there needs to be upgrades across the board on defense. I also want to say this. This is a big decision for licht and if it doesn’t work out next year he should be held accountable. I’m obviously not saying to move on from the guy or anything crazy but I feel as if the Bucs have a similar or worse outcome as this season licht needs to look in the mirror a bit.

Todd Bowles has final say over his coaching staff. That's just the way his contract is written. That's usually the case with coaching contracts.

Unless they bring a proven dog at OLB and a a really good CB I can see this team looking minimum one game to NO, twice to Atlanta and maybe just one to Carolina, they are gonna be better.

yeah not looking great Coen has in person interview wed seems high on their list. Dammit. My fan faith will take a huge hit if they keep Bowles and give up Coen. a Very sad day imo. Did you wathc the playoffs? I am pretty sure every team that played last weekend went for it on 4th down at least once. What did Toilet Bowles do? threw in the towel. No risk it no biscuit. that is not going to win you playoffs. I rather go down swinging. we go for it on 4th and miss? same outcome. But at least we would given ourselves a chance to win.

Picking bowles over coen would be the dumbest decision In a very long time. Bowles is a below average d coordinator. Hes an average head coach and thats me trying to be nice. This is a VERY EASY DIVISON. We shouldnt be scraping by every year. His specialty is d and hes not good at it plain and simple. Hes had his chance. Eventually this offense won’t be able to save this god awful defense
