#44 How to fix Stromberg 175 CD carburettor diaphragm Mercedes 200 W115 Förgasare o förgasarmembran

In this episode I fix my Mercedes-Benz 200 1975 W115 /8 strichacht. Having some trouble with the Stromberg 175 CD carburettor. I change the membrane / diaphragm etc and show some variants of the 175 CD carb. All finished with a nice test drive. Hope you enjoy it!

I know the part is cheap, but if you are stinggy like me and don't even want to pay the cost of postage. A patch from your bicycle puncture repair kit does the job just as well. I have used rubber patches to fix carb diaphragms, LPG evaporators, mechanical diesel pumps, and also Merc vacuum transmission change diaphragms, probably a dozen times, without any issues.

@@Pexyz I had a 1975/76 , 4 door like yours,, unfortunately it was a spares /donor car and eventually was scraped. and some of its parts are still in my cellar. it was in very poor condition, yours seems to be in incredibly great shape. the car i drove for many years was a 250/8 C 1969 LHD in the UK which I restored, yours has the same Blaupunkt radio that i remember very well. non injection model, very simple and reliable. mine also had the electric sunroof, which was a great rare feature. driving around all 4 windows down, pillarless and sunroof open. a lot of people in UK still remember it , as it was painted as a green/white POLIZEI car, with extra lights and things. It was stolen many years ago, gone without a trace. was LHD so the speedometer was changed to a mph one , and I think it was from a gullwing 300SL as it read 150+ mph, but could only manage 100

Lovely car this 114 of yours , I’ve got problems with my stromberg carburetor on one of my w123’s and can’t seem to get it right so I guess I might buy a replacement one . Luckily here in South Africa we have plenty of spares due to Mercs being locally assembled

I have a w115 aswell, it starts up OK and idles, but when giving gas it stalls or chokes put. What should I do ?

Great video, thanks for sharing. I have this exact problem of only excelerating up to 50kmp/h. But i checked the diaphram but did not find any defects. What else could cause this problem?

Hi Pexyz I very much enjoy your videos and wonderd if you may be able to help I have a1969 w115 non adjustable carburettor and unable to find the correct metering needle . I think the previous owner may of changed the air piston at some point as none of the recommended needles fit into the air piston as they are to large, the diameter of the air piston housing is a fraction under 4mm ,have you come across this before when working on w115 carburettors.keep up the good work ,kind regards David

Sorry, I have never experienced that. By the ID-numer of the carb you should be able to find the correct parts. Hope it works out 👍👌
