Because anyone who watched the game saw the it wasn’t Russell Wilson running the show. Denver were 0-4 in the red zone and the head was to blame since he wanted the running backs to run it in each time. Even when they were at the 1 yard line, the head coach didn’t trust Russell Wilson to do a QB sneak or have the ball in his hands. Denver lost because of the head coach play calling.

@@kouguy8213 did you watch the game? Russ threw the ball into the end zone a handfull of times and got denied by the defense. One of them was close, but the WR's toe touched the boundary. It wasn't all goal line runs. Seattle's defense is easy to rack up yards on. Hard AF to score points on.

@@themcstreetz316 Lol. Very casual fan just sitting in an echo chamber. They were pretty clearly trying to run the clock as close to 0 as they could as they intended on him making the kick. What happens if they do call a timeout, think it through and with 50 seconds left decide to kick it, and they make it? Seattle then has 50 seconds to go down the field with a timeout, Use your head buddy, the time management was spot on. They intended on making the kick while the clock hit 0.

I'll say this. I've watched a lot of Seahawks games and have seen plenty of Wilson games. There have been a lot of games when under 2 minutes the time gets wasted. In this case, Wilson might be waiting for the play and his coaches but the real question is why is he doing that? He's been in the NFL for over 10 years. At this point, why would he not just take that timeout by himself. I don't think Hackett would be mad if he did so. So all in all. Wilson does have a history of just letting the clock wind down.

@@stuponfucious7 Bro hitting a 64 yard field goal is lower odds. I just googled it since the year 2000 kickers are 2 of 29 at 64 yards or more. That's a 6% chance lol. Don’t forget they ran on 2nd down and got a 3rd and short with 2:36 left and then let the clock run to the 2 minute warning.. they should’ve had 2 plays called in on 3rd down. 1 to get yards for a shorter 4th down and then go hurry up and run the 2nd play for the 1st down. @@robmitchell3039 I hope not, but remember when Peyton joined the Broncos in 2012, the team started 2-3 and were on their way to being 2-4 after trailing San Diego 0-24 by halftime. I don't know what happened at halftime, but the Broncos would go on to win the game 35-24 to start a winning streak that didn't end until that miserable playoff lost at home to Baltimore. Teams with new QBs and coaches (and in the Broncos' case, new owners) have to treat the season like a marathon and try to improve incrementally each week. Good discussion on this, thanks. One thing though, B-Mac CANNOT hit from long. Yes he has a big leg but he can’t get it between the uprights. He is 1 for 8 from beyond 60, and 3 of these misses were at Mile High. Of course he thinks he can hit those, that’s the nature of kickers, but the data says otherwise.
@user-jc6pr5el5g
@user-jc6pr5el5g 2 жыл бұрын
You couldn't be more right. He was 1/7 before last night from 60+, so 14%, and I heard this morning that PFF rated the 4th and 5 at 42% chance of converting, so 3x better odds. Big mistake from Hackett, you've got to put that in the hands of your best player.
@preston1382
@preston1382 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-jc6pr5el5g still have to hit the kick after picking up the first so you need to consider the chance of converting and making the shorter kick so will be lower than 40% , and the one 60+ kick he has made was in January of this year. Judging someone’s current odds based on kicks from years ago shouldn’t be treated the same as kicks from months ago. The odds of the decision were likely the same, and all things being equal, I’d rather see McManus be the hero from 64.

@@preston1382 bruh. They needed 5 yards. They gained more than 5 yards on a play over 30 times in that game, 5 times on that drive alone. A kick of that distance has been made twice IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL! And those 2 were in Denver and in a dome. So really it had never been done in those conditions. Odds likely about the same...gtfo

@@trent_mcneely7554 look at all the prior attempts and how they missed. Almost every single one until recently was short or blocked. McManus had the leg and barely missed. Not to mention he already hit from 60+ this year in January… at sea level. Also not to mention that 16 of the 20 longest NFL kicks have happened in the last 10 years, with the majority of those in the last 5….”THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL” means nothing compared to current data and the rapid improvement in long distance field goals that has occurred. When Hackett made this call McManus was 1/3 over the past 3 years from 60+ with the most recent kick being the make. Thinking a make was a 35% likelihood is completely reasonable. Plus the offense only picked up 50% of third downs last night with all but 2 of the successful conversations from shorter distances than the 5 yards they had left. So they probably only had a 40% shot at that first down… then McManus still has to hit a kick, albeit shorter. So ya, they were pretty similar odds.

This is why I always laugh at NFL coaches acting all big and bad and pretending to be the smartest guy in the room. Most of them are not intelligent people. If they weren't getting paid millions of dollars to lose football games, they'd be making $35,000 a year as high school gym teachers. Clock management isn't hard guys. It's not. And for all you idiots who are going to come at me and argue about it, there were three guys with a combined 7 Super Bowl rings on the Manningcast all screaming for a timeout, so do they just not know football either?

Even taking this field goal out of the equation, that was just a really bad showing by hackett. Broncos were extremely unprepared and sloppy and the playcalling inside the redzone was awful. I don’t know how you have multiple tries from the 0.5 yard line and you end up with 2 shotgun runs that result in fumbles. Obviously the fumbles aren’t on him but i feel like a shotgun run that close is just objectively the wrong call. To not even try a qb sneak seems like a major failure
