I really like the Rita and Joe story line. Unusual to address stalking and sexual harassment/assault at that time. When Norman said he wouldn't bring the incident up again and then asked why Joe wasn't scratched up, it was heartbreaking and all too familiar to many female viewers, I'm sure.

You made an error. NORMAN asked RITA why SHE didn't get scratched up, not JOE.

@@malaikaal-amin2706 No, watch it again. He asked "How come HE wasn't scratched up?"

@@suki44883 Exactly. Norman wanted to know why Joe didn't have scratches on him from Rita trying to resist him. In other words, Norman distrusts her. Typical.

When she hugged Norman what was her smile for ??

@@lolasparks.4539 She thought they were past it. She was happy he was hugging her, of course. But she should have told him Joe raped her.

I always enjoy these quiet scenes between Allison & Rodney. They're hoping for a golden summer but dark clouds are on the horizon, unfortunately.

I'm with you on both points. Repeatedly comments are made about the beginning of summer, but for the audience of 1965 fall is in the air. Moving forward: Did "Peyton Place" do snow (artificial, of course) for supposed winter scenes only in the first season? Once it went to color I would fear that the artificial stuff would not photograph believably, as it nearly does in b&w.

Why doesn’t Allyson call her father Dad, and grandfather grandpa, like other ordinary girls, I also think that the summer will bring again dark clouds for her and Rodney
