Thank you SEW much. I’m being allowed to BORROW a Pfaff 130 whilst I wait for my Singer replacement. I might have missed it...what number do I need to have it set to for a simple STRAIGHT stitch?! HUGE thanks in advance!!
@BarstowDM4 жыл бұрын
0 is the offset for a straight stitch with 4 being the widest zigzag. Thanks for commenting!

@@BarstowDM HA! I figured it out after commenting. Thanks for responding! I now know how to reverse too. Crazy learning curve on an 89 year old machine. 🤪

I fixed mine also with heat and oil but de switch is not stable once in position. Any idea to solve that?

There is a set screw to hold the plastic knob fast to the shaft. I believe there is a flat on that shaft you want to make sure the set screw is engaged with.

How to get set screw back in??Thanks..

If I recall correctly, this is a dog head set screw. There is a pin end that will slide into the proper portion of the adjustment shaft. If you don't find that hole, the screw can not enter the shaft and thread into place.

Fantastic video - great work! Question: are you saying the shaft, that the set screw contacts with - has a "flat "area" that contacts with that set screw? I'm having a heck of a time getting the knob to not shift (extra play) around when turning 0-4. The pointed dial plate doesn't always move when adjusting the knob (if that makes sense). Seems the set screw is screwed in tight enough - or maybe the knob isn't pushed onto the shaft enough? Thanks!!! @@BarstowDM

Hi! I love the speed of your machine. Is it dependent on the motor amp? Thanks
@BarstowDM4 жыл бұрын
Amps will dictate power (force), but RPM is the functional speed. The foot control gives you fine speed control.

Does this machine sew leather
@BarstowDM5 жыл бұрын
Wood Woman I wouldn’t use it for leather. It has more of a tailor hook. Look at Singer 15-91 for light leather work.

it "can" sew leather with a little tweaking. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGibpWWwjdeHi5Y

Thanks, I'm trying to get my straight stitch set. I will try this. Did you have problems getting the center screw to turn? I have it setting in kerosene right now. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thats basically how you do it, I timed my 238's zig zag that way. Also, the Dial-A-Stitch on the 138 and 238 are miles better than the one on the 130 despite them looking identical but the 130 weirdly, has more stitch length (not zig zag width) than the usual 138s and 238s. It's actually not as clear cut as the Industrial ones being better than the 130 Domestic. Rather the industrial ones just have faster motors (Servo/clutch) and are built with less bakelite and more actual metal parts where it counts. It is weird because you'd expect the PFAFF 138/238's to be immediately better than the 130 and that's IMO, not really the case unless you have the Rarer 6mm 138/238's. Otherwise you can just pick up a 130 for hundreds less, even if the Dial-A-Stitch is more annoying to deal with on the 130. But yeah spend the extra $60-100 or so and get a PFAFF 130 you hopefully won't have to mess with or tear into too much.
