This machine is purchased to do difficult, intricate binding sewing . Sewing in a straight(fast) unbinded line does nothing to help me make decision on purchase

335 cylinder bed machine can make regular straight stitch and binding operation. If you need to bind some of your leather, this is very good choice. If you never need bind sewing operation, you can consider CowBoy 7341 or 7342, because of bigger rotary hook (larger bobbin capacity).
