I bought the 710 a few years ago and didn't use it. Now, when I do want to use it, I can't figure out the simplest things. I've found that I really hate all these friggin' buttons. I just want to sew a straight quarter-inch seam! I can't even figure out how to enable the foot control! It's plugged in, etc, but I get no response. This has been a real waste of a lot of money for me. I'm so frustrated and angry. Also, very stupid?

So sorry to hear about your frustration! For sewing a quarter inch seam, there is a piecing foot in your accessories which will give you a 1/4" seam when you run the edge of the fabric along the edge of the foot. If your machine is not sewing when you push on the foot pedal, make sure your bobbin winder spindle is disengaged, that is pushed to the left. If you have checked this, and your foot control is firmly plugged in, then you might need to have your dealer look at it. @@MontavillaSewing Hello and thanks. I checked the spindle. It's in the correct position. So I will be going to the dealer to possibly get a new foot control. Or a trade-in!

@@MontavillaSewing Not a button, but an icon that sometimes lights up and other times does not. It does reverse in a different way.
