If the pfSense devs add wg* to their mismatch function, I guess you could go back to go naming wireguard tunnels the "normal way"? I wonder if they would be open to the idea?

I will ask them 😁 The initial push here is to build a package that doesn't require any modifications to pfSense core

It is on their radar, but right now we are working on using the current internal pfsense infrastructure to make this work so we can get it into the repository faster.
