I've just discovered these PFT' videos, and I am so grateful! I am a recently licensed RRT, but due to childcare conflicts, I can't work 12 hour shifts in a hospital. The ability to due PFT's in a doctors office or rehabilitation center will open up some employment possibilities. Our PFT class in school was vague, and except for 1 day of hand-held spirometry, we weren't able to perform tests using equipment. It's very helpful for me to see tests done on the actual equipment, thanks so much!

How much does the speed of panting effect the measurment?

Just an observation. The panting exceeded 1 Hz., actually during the closed phase the monitor showed 150 bpm as a result you have a TGV of 130% of predicted. TLC of 117% of predicted and a RV/TLV of 119% of predicted, shown on the partial screen. It may or not be accurate. May I suggest you use a metronome to hit the required number additionally if your patients are uniform hopefully so will the results. Great job, BTW great technologists make poor test subjects.

What would you set a metronome to ? In beats per minute?
