I just realized why this is one of the best podcast out there. It’s because the people giving their commentary and opinion are respected, knowledgeable, and insightful based on their many years of first hand experience and actually living what they’re talking about. All these other podcast are basically some Tom, Dick, and Harry that have no credibility on the subject matter but just provides sensationalism to get clicks. I know Mr Abrams won’t belittle anyone else because he’s classy but Kostis and McCord are the best and lucky for us we have a place to tune in to hear what they have to say. Even Coach Kostis lessons are better than most instruction that is out there.

Another great chat gents. In regards to TV coverage I can't watch any or very few PGAT events because the coverage is basically rubbish. Watching the Pebble Beach event was unwatchable this year at one of my favourite golf tournaments of the year. Love watching LIV Golf because it's fast paced, it has new technology, I know what the heck is going on at all times, it's dramatic with the team event at the same time as the individual. The Hong Kong event just played showcased the changes in the team placings on the last day...every 5 minutes we had different teams leading the event. They are also not afraid to try something new in their infancy & see if it works or not. But then you turn over to the PGAT & it is just bland. No soul.

@@shanewilliams1216 I have been thinking about it a little lately - and in reality - the PGA tour that we know was really a creation built around AP. Going back to the 60s - he was probably as close to Michael Jordan in terms of star athlete of that time - he basically created the sports agent - Mark McCormack. So the entire thing was really designed around who Arnold was - and what people liked about him. With the TV came money - and that is what lead to the tour breaking away from the PGA of America in '68. That was basically Arnold and Jack saying this is the market for us - and we are going to determine the rules and how it goes. So in 1993 when Norman tried to start his world tour - it was all set to go until he got an invitation to Arnolds office one day @ Bayhill - and Arnold, Jack and basically the policy board had a little come to Jesus meeting with him and that was the end of it. So it stood to reason that after Arnold is no longer around there would be a complete re alignment. The most important thing about it all was greed. - Yeah Jack and Arnold were the headliners but they created a place where there could be honest competition. Mccord made a huge contribution with the 125 exempt tour in 82 that really opened things up and gave opportunities to guys that would not have happened without it. I think in the long run they will look back and see that greed killed it. Liv is not a sustainable model - hopefully they will come to some type of agreement some way and will minimize the damage but I think 15 -20 yrs from now - this split will never really be fixed and professional golf will never be as popular again.

He said when Frank Chirkinian hired him Ben said he was told by FC if he didnt have anything to add to what is on screen don't say a word. Fast forward to today and the announcers never shut up which is annoying for the viewer. Peter you are absolutely right about getting rid of the announcers. For the most part, they don't offer hardly anything more than what you can already see on TV. They cheer for shots, or worse talk to the ball to slow down, get going or whatever. They are obviously prejudiced toward the top players and faun over everything done by Speith, JT, Scheffler, etc. unless they hit poor shots - then they make excuses for the poor play. And lastly, when they're not falling all over one another to get their inane comments on the air they're always looking for the opportunity to make the grandiose call that will be forever immortalized in sports history. I'm talking to you Mr.Pebble Beach!

There is so much coverage of the “business of golf” on the Golf Channel lately that I find myself watching documentaries about the iconic courses and players instead. He had a MAJOR impact on professional golf because most people got to experience that on TV. Kostis and McCord were definitely contributors and were great but the constant was the Ayatollah. The telecasts now are really bad. Nothing against Trevor Immelmann but he is about as compelling as listening to grass grow - not watching - listening. The tour now seems to be all about money…not so much chasing history. I saw a very recent interview of Lanny Watkins and the topic of the Ryder Cup came up. He said that he and other past Captains were sitting in a separate room, including greats like Ray Floyd and Lee Trevino. Lanny said NO PLAYER stopped by to say hello and certainly didn’t asked for any advice. Lanny also said he is completely confused of the attitude of the importance of the locker room click. It seemed more like a boys club than a group focused on winning the cup. Different breed I guess.

The Players finally felt like a major this year - without voicing about it like in the past. Certainly seems better than PGA Championship that got devalued by being sandwiched in May. Plus, prospects on Europe side not too great… Ryder Cup would be buying that at the top - as well.

So the fans that want to see the best v best can just go shove it, we want some revenge. And we want to hold on to the superior Tour Title and continue to keep the best players in the USA only ......... well, if this happens the current Karma that is engulfing the PGAT will increase 10 fold and will bring about a collapse in viewership from disgruntled fans

Legends. These 53 min flew bye. As far as some of the topics discussed: The only thing more boring than 2 boring talking heads in the booth is 4! As you said they’re could be 3o balls in the air but we get 4 talking heads. It’s like they are joking. There’s a lot of people who still hate on LIv and I do agree their coverage deserves critique; especially from the likes of you two; but LIv coverage is a big step up. Golf coverage needs to entertain outside of golf shots but at the end of the day people are tuning in for golf shots. LIv Breaks from golf shots are used properly to balance the coverage; which is the opposite of what the networks are doing: a few golf shots to Balance all the other stuff. And I do think the team is being entertaining with a good mix of characters. I hated the walk and talks first. I’m glad to hear you two dislike them. Your old boy Nantz -whom has become more sheltered living at pebble than Bobby- is in love with them. But I will say walk and talks are not as bad with an interviewer walking with the player. And I will add nbc is doing a better job than cbs on the walk and talks.

LIV should buy or partner with PGA of America. Monopolies are not good for players or fans.

Get rid of the 24/7/365 of "Golf Central" and Golf Today" shows that do nothing but cover the same 3 topics and same people every week with no news and filler bullshit that makes no difference to the world of golf, when you can always create shows on history or destination travel. ANYTHING INTERESTING, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

I like watching LPGA but this week I had enough. I watched with the tournament with the sound off. I had enough of the announcers talking too much, while the players playing the stroke, and starting their comments with “I”. I would’ve done this or I think she feels this way. Plus one of the chatterbox has a high, nasally voice that is very annoying and not subtle for tv. Her initials are MP. As far as PGA, what’s wrong with leaving well enough alone? Why move on from Roget Maltby, Gary Koch, Kostis and McCord when they provide experience, comfort and familiarity. Is Kisner or Knost better than what has worked all these years?

No way PGA Tour buys PGA of America, and LIV needs television money to survive the next two years. Saudi Arabia wants a return on their investments which is these players not the format. Players sell the tournament not the format. The Masters and Open might be the only exceptions.

Peter couldn’t be more wrong about the Joel dahman stuff. Those are the stories I want to hear on shows like that. Hearing Peter talk about all the liv stuff is what is boring. It’s all inside baseball
