FS2020 - Flying the Icon A5

In this video, we go over the basics of starting, flying and landing the only amphibious plane in Microsoft flight simulator. The whole flight takes place in and around KOXB.

I love flying this plane in MSFS (and adored it back in Microsoft Flight) but IRL it is a plane meant for short skinny rich people which excludes me in every category 😂

This is the first plane I flew the night I got MSFS. It was a lot of fun, I immediately took it to a big dam near where I live and landed it there lol

When I first flew this in FS2020... I was that guy, I put the water rudder down during my first water landing. Since then I've learned and am now having fun with this aircraft.

This plane is a Lexus with wings... that happens to also float. Such a wonderful car-plane, easy to fly too!

I can never get the plane to maneuver where I want to go after landing in the water, even with the rudder deployed. Any breeze prevents me from turning a 180 turn in the water. That doesn't seem realistic to me. How would anyone be able to dock it where you want at the shore?

I enjoy flying this aircraft too. The only negative aspect is, when the aircraft lands on water, there is no wash which is a shame. All of the water aircraft in Flight Sim X showed wash, and looked very lifelike. Maybe the designers will rectify this in the future.

Fantastic clip but how do you change the transponder frequencies . I flew on vatsim but it wouldnt change to the second digit on the transponder . Regards Dave from Scotland

Does the real plane have a heading indicator and/or magnetic compass? I cannot find these in MSFS. It seems dangerous to rely on the digital display for the heading.

This mod is flyable but it idles at 3500 rpm, and you can't ever land it once it locks in at 0% throttle, and 2500 RPM in the engine.

There is no object on an amphibious plane called a water rusher... It is a rudder. Real life water landing is much easier than on land.

This is the closest thing to a helicopter in FS2020.

I really really like your movies. However, you tend to lower your voice, speedup talking and reduce articulation in parts (of sentences) you find less important. I have a hard time understanding these at normal playback speed, whilst I watch nearly all other youtube videos at higher speeds without any problems. Again, awesome movies as you explain a lot and with consistency. This is my favorite FS2020 channel.
