Speak for yourself, I've never had a 12 in my life on any hole, not even when I first started playing. I'm certain my worst ever score on a hole was an 8. I remember my ex wanting to go to the golf course to try it out and after weeks of nagging me I finally took her (under severe protest). I refused to allow her anywhere near the main course but did agree to her going on the 6-hole par 3 course. When I told my friends about it I began by telling them she took 7 on the first hole. They said that it wasn't bad for a beginner. I disagreed. I told them it was horrendous because the 7 was how many attempts she made before she made contact with the ball. I almost walked away. Needless to say she was banned from ever going within 5 miles of the golf club ever again...unless it was to pick me up after a round.

That's the problem with golf on tv. They only show those ripping the course up; they only show the 25 feet putts that go in, never the 9 footers that miss. All you see on tv is almost-perfect golf. Actually, that's not true. There is something else you see more often than almost-perfect golf....ADVERTS! 🤬 American coverage of golf is the worst. I quit watching live golf years ago because of all the ads. BBC coverage, especially with Peter Alliss and Alex Hay commentating, was without a doubt the best golf coverage ever.
