This was a 9&7 win, not 8&7. Tiger was up 8, his birdie conceded, when Cink fails to make birdie, it's 9&7. Not sure how this could have been overlooked so massively for so long.

@@TheLocalLt Yeah, I remember watching and we have only seen margins like this from Tiger in the match play event. He beat Stephen Ames 9&8 in the first round back in 2005 or 2006. Tiger was 9 up on the front nine and dormie already. Tiger had a birdie chance on 10 to finish it and win 10&8 but he missed the putt and he has spoken about being annoyed by that. Then, when he played Cink in 2008, he got pretty far out in front in the first 18 (this was in the final and back then the final was 36 holes) and then just really beat him by being that much better because not sure if people remember what the Tiger from 2005-2009 was but it was the best golf he ever played and therefore the best golf anyone has ever played. That was the year where Tiger played 7 events and won 5 (including the US Open on one leg) with the exceptions being the Masters where he was second, two strokes back, and the other was WGC Cadillac at Doral where he finished 5th (also just two strokes though). And consistency and golf at that level is crazy and it all happened when Tiger was in pain. Can you imagine if Tiger was not in pain and playing at that level? My god! But yeah, Tiger was up 8 with 9 to play. He pars 10 and goes dormie. Then on 11 Cink missed his birdie putt which meant Tiger would have to three putt from 15 feet for things to continue to the next hole so he conceded. In conceding before Tiger putted, it counts as a birdie for Tiger which brings him from 8 up to 9 up with 7 to play.

@@aaronsmith7946 yeah I remember being annoyed that ESPN stopped showing every shot of Woods vs Ames after about the 6th hole, it was an epic beatdown that we should have seen every shot of. This one I was on vacation for and saw it on a hotel room TV but I have to believe if I was at home I might have noticed the disparity at the time as you did. I’m surprised nothing has ever been done to address this, including by Tiger at the time.

Also, at 19:13 the graphic showed that Woods def. Oberholser in extra holes, but they also showed him shaking hands with Oberholser at 3 & 2. Which was it?
