PGMC - Left Behind

The Portland Gay Men's Chorus performs "Left Behind" at its March 2012 concert, 'The Young Person's Guide to the Gay Men's Chorus'. The video honors 127 members the Chorus has lost in its 32 year history, many to HIV/AIDS.

I just stumbled across this. I sing with the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, and we performed this in 1992. I was one of the c&w dancers. Heartbreaking to relive all this. We won't forget.

I'll never forget hearing this song in Denver Colorado where the LA Gay Men's chorus sang it at the 1992 GAYLA Conference. I was 25 years old - and I didn't know what my life would bring. I was coming of age in a dark time of death, grief, shame and pride. Art and music helps me grieve. It touches a grief that is so much bigger than me. I am a conduit connected to all my gay brother's who have left before me, as I will leave behind another generation of beauty and heartbreak. Ah, this one precious life. Love one another and be loved. xoxo
