WOW! You sure do have a BIG phal collection! Your videos are always on the top of my viewing list. You provide such good information in a very organized and clearly presented manner. Today I will look at my phals (I only have 6) and check to see how they are doing. Want to repot a couple in an organic medium again as they aren't faring well in stalite.

Great video. Thank you for the inspiration to grow orchids and now I see how I can have self water pots. I am growing phals but in the spring or when the weather is warmer I will be changing my phals to semi-hydro and self watering to see what will work for me. I know that for sure I will put my denphal into semi-hydro as well as my oncidium. Love how all your orchids are looking.

i got phalaenopsis in this self watering pots as a present a year bevore. the roots rotted away in this self watering pot. but not with the orchid soil which was already in the pots, it didn't look really good now, really rotted and no air ventilation at all. it is perhaps helpful if you know you go away for al long time, to fill that reservoir, but then wait month till the roots get dry. if you want to water once every three or four month this could work. perhaps this works with very rough mineral medium, which doesn't rott and loose its air holes.

I am a regular listener of ur videos. U r simply the best orchid doctor. I have a white phalaenopsis which bloomed a lot for me. Now the medium has degraded and i want to repot it. I need ur advise. It has a very good root sysstem. But now it is growing more roots at the base of the leaves apart from the old roots. Now my question is while repotting should i cut the down part of the plant and grow the top part separately. Will it grow. I want to send a picture of my orchid so that u can understand what i m trying to say

I love mini phals and I am trying to keep them in the small pots I bought them in, they have the ceramic decorative pot that is so beautiful. Are they big root growers? Here I see them in large size pots. I just want to make sure I am not doing wrong by them.
@MissOrchidGirl4 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes eventually they do grow quite big roots, I now moved them to a standard 12 cm pot ☺️

@@MissOrchidGirl Thank you for the answer, will have to rethink my shelving. I was hoping to have the tidy efect by only having white ceramic decorative pots. I am going to have a busy spring looking for white ceramic pots that fit my space.

Hi, Danny!! I absolutely love the fact that I can easily watch hours of your videos and never get tired!!! I have some Phals for almost 6 months and after losing their flowers, they started growing leaves but no roots at all... should I be worried? Cause I repoted them a while ago and I can’t see new roots developing or adapting to the media :(

Can you let me know what happened to the phal with the patchy yellow discoloration on the leaf? I have something very similar with one of mine right now (a roughly 5 year old store bought standard complex hybrid). The orchid looks pretty good overall. It grew multiple new roots and two new leaves this summer, but there is some patchy yellowing on the second newest leaf. It lives on a table with multiple other Phals that all look fine. It never receives direct sun, and I haven’t seen any pests crawling on it. It doesn’t seem to be progressing over the last couple weeks. It’s potted in an unglazed clay pot and has been in there for about a year and a half. I live in the northeast US. We have been getting cooler temperatures for the past few weeks, usually going down to about 15C at night. There was one night that I didn’t check the forecast and it got quite cold- about 5C- and I left the window cracked that night. Is there any chance that cold temp could cause such discoloration?

Hi I see that you are putting your phalaenopsis back into bark. The last time I checked you preferred leca and self watering pots? So now I'm a bit confused as to which is best. Any chance you could do a video update on why you made the change and your new set up? Thanks also love the videos

I have a Phalaenopsis orchid that made two Keiki’s that are still attached to the mom and have no roots but has two flower spikes. Why is this happening and can it be saved?
@MissOrchidGirl4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Phalaenopsis orchids can produce keikis sometimes, doesn't mean anything if the mother plant looks healthy. The keikis can be separated and potted when they have 2-3 roots of about 5-10 cm ☺️ if they are basal they can be left with the mother plant.
