So, now we know what one of the changes to the G500A over the P500A will be - fan brackets and the front fans mounted in front of those brackets. Interesting. I am hoping for a change to the top dust filter for that one, too, though I suspect it will still be a floppy bit of mesh. If it happens not to be, I might replace my black and white P500A with an all-white G500A, even though that is the definition of a sidegrade.

great review dude! you have one of those voice si could listen to for hours!! haha! on a serious note, this case isnt as bad thermally as initially thought due to the I9 CPU. i have just gone from a 6600k to a 12600k and the stock CPU voltage was set to 1.34v in the BIOS which is madly overvolted. I ran a few tests and the 12600K reached 91c in minutes. I set the CPU voltage to 1.2v in the BIOS and then re-ran those tests and it dropped to 77c. Given the fan/AIO setup in that case in your build, i would say due to that overvolted I9, the hot air is being drawn into the case. I honestly believe if you mess about lowering the i9 voltage and coming back to testing, you will yield lower temps, therefore making the phanteks case a more warranted option :)

Got a TD500 mesh from cooler Master just for the top mounted 360 radiator option last year. Other cases on offer here in a similar price bracket didn't offer this at the time such as the Corsair 4000D, Phanteks P360A, Lian Li lancool 2, etc. I wish this case released a year prior as I may have gone with it instead Edit: Nvm after seeing the completed build, it's an okay looking case but to my eyes, the TD500 mesh is better looking
@KillScottKill
@KillScottKill 2 жыл бұрын
The mesh on the front isn't wide enough and that's why there isn't a stark drop in temps with fan speed. It's not terrible by any means, but they could open it up more. It's the same issue Lian Li had with the first batch of O11 Air Minis that they recalled and put different panels on.

Dang, I wish I had seen this a few days ago, Iike the look of this case better than the Corsair 5000D White I bought. Better places to mount some 3.5 drives and you get RGB fans in the front and a mesh panel instead of solid panel. Same price. I got it from Amazon so I could send it back... what do you think? Which is better?
@camotech1314

I feel like they could have gotten away with using a fine dust filter with the mesh front. If you're in an even slightly dusty room and run your PC 8+ hours a day you will have issues with dust build up inside the case. All the P cases have this issue. I've had a build in 4000D Airflow for a month, and the build up of dust on the mesh filter was quite noticeable (cleaned it once already in space of 2 months). My PC is on for at least 8 hours a day, although I don't have any pets.

I have been using the P300 recently... a very good case considering the price! This new one looks very similar and as a budget option is hard to beat. Nothing wrong & easy to build. Obviously not suitable for someone who wants to build a high end system... and, of course, great review as always!

Have you considered putting the radiator outside of the front frame and the fans inside? Exhausting through the front and intaking through the top and defies convention but it may have been what an engineer had in mind when they put a filter on the top.
@athmaid
@athmaid 3 ай бұрын
Putting the radiator outside the case was surprisingly common in the early days of water cooling but I can confidently say no, that's not what the engineers had in mind lol. The filter in the top is just one of those things they do because so many people still have that "filters everywhere" mindset. That and novice builders might not install any additional fans in the top so dust would freely fall in if there was no filter and air to blow it away

Great review as always, but I would like to see you testing cases with default configuration. Additional fan, front fans as exhaust on top, AiO on front and now I wonder how this case would perform by default as most of the buyers will use them. It would be nice to e.g. compare this case by default to one back fan added. I also don't like using AiOs or in testing cases - on top they serve as additional exhaust, so affecting airflow performance results, front mounted they just result in what we saw in this review. I also prefer testing case's fans performance with CPU and GPU coolers on blocked speeds - then we really see case's airflow and noise performance instead of wondering if difference was made by cooler or case. I understand that Phanteks' AiO and PSU needed to be in this video, but thanks to them I know nothing about this case's performance. But I like you testing cases with less mainstream, but toasty hardware - that just makes the most sense :]
@KitGuruTech
@KitGuruTech 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it - the question of hardware is always vexed. The scientific approach is to always use the same components and move them from case to case. Alternatively you can mix it up to add a degree of interest, which as you can see was the approach taken here. In case there is any doubt I am well aware I added more fans than come with the bare case but truth be told I was keen to see just how it behaved with seven fans installed. Leo
@stanisawkowalski7440
@stanisawkowalski7440 2 жыл бұрын
@@KitGuruTech I always enjoy your (and James' too!) reviews - for me you're the most reliable from all :] Testing cases with always the same hardware makes sense, but doesn't do more than creating some airflow hierarchy, not showing exact differences due to everybody's config having different heat and cooling potential. And hardware moves forward, so needs to be changed often (3090 Ti with it's power draw just landed) - look at the most performace focused Gamer's Nexus sticking to his damn 6700K and 1080... There's no right metodology, but to be clear I'm the fan of: case as it comes by default, most power hungry components, but ones with the best coolers (e.g. Strix, not Ventus - people caring about temperatures and noise should care here first); CPU and GPU air cooled and with blocked, lower than higher fan speeds; harshest real-life load (rendering, gaming, not Prime + Furmark). And your golden audio samples :D These are rare among reviewers, but say more than dBA.

12:16 🤦‍♂️ your AIO is installed upside-down. I imagine you’d be better off top mounting the AIO here so that a) gravity is actually working in the AIO’s favor and b) the AIO isn’t both obstructing airflow to the air-cooled GPU and also warming that air the instant it enters the case.

This looks great but it kneecaps one of their own cases the good ole P400A. Why buy the P400A when this is available or you can step up to the P500A? Having moved from a P400A to a Antec DF700 I’d say Phanteks should do a total redesign of their P400A. As good as the P400A is, when compared to the P500A and this G360A it might as well feel ancient on the inside and is now between two much better cases in its own product stack. P460A???? Maybe? I’d like to see you review it. Great video as always!

@@camotech1314 Sorry if it was misunderstood, but its more about general stagnation, flippable psu side panel(s) should imo be a standard regardless of size , or a similar solution, its just that the tower market in general is stagnant, and with the LCIII and lancool 216 they are just widening the gap, theres more that can be done with "just a box" than a mesh panel in front.

Looks decent, but I miss the prices you used to be able to get cases for end of last year - Corsair 4000D Airflow were going for £50 at one point, now they're £90 :( Still think the 4000D Airflow would be my pick (given it has front USB-C), but in the current market this does seem good value. Corsair 220T is still a great option for compact ATX builds though....currently at £75 (on Amazon, in white), and also comes with 3x aRGB fans, although they're 3 pin DC controlled if that matters to you.

I used both a Fractal Design Define C Compact and a Lian Li O11 Air MIni (with no dust filters at all) and the difference in dust accumulation inside the case is big (with the same hardware inside), after 3 weeks the inside of the Lian Li was layerd with dust and my room is pretty clean.

You don't stick too high-end components in an at best mid-range chassis and whinge that the performance isn't quite there.
