"Phantom" Las Vegas - Backstage

Such an absolutely gorgeous production. I was 17 when it opened here in Vegas and was lucky to see it 4 times during its run. I love Phantom and it’s such a shame it closed. I was also lucky to end up meeting/chatting with the actress who played Meg (Brianne Morgan Kelly) online. She gave me and my mother two free tickets to the show and after met with us and let us go up on stage. It was incredible and intimidating to go on that huge stage. Seeing all the props and sets off to the side or floating high above us. Was able to meet Brent Barrett, Seirra Boggess, and Tim Martin Gleason too and got their signatures in my program. They were the Phantom, Christine, and Raoul, respectively. It still blows my mind it closed down yet they still use the theater. It looks largely the same too! They ripped out anything phantom related but the box seats still remain as well as most of the stage boarder and the gorgeous blue ceiling. The chandelier, the masquerade stairs, the opera house, the lake of individual candles, the opera patrons on each of the many boxes are severely missed. Too bad Vegas is only about Sex and Cirque and dumb drunk tourists. We almost could have been Broadway West. Thank god they built the Smith Center to give locals culture. Which is consistently sold out on all touring musicals. Glad it’s off the strip too.
