People forget that Henk was Floors inspiration to sing, and this is the utter wonder we get. She IS with her idol, and Henk, well, he just outright delivers in what she wants. You see it more in his version of sound of silence, (his love for Floor, or respect, you choose). Two wonderful vocalists, going hardcore. The joy of music, there is nothing on Earth like it. Henk played the role of the Phantom countless times, including in London, and is rated as one of the best Phantom performers... period. This was Floor's wish, she's been a huge fan of Henk for many years and when she had the chance to ask him for this duet, she did. Henk had only one demand, "we'll do it, but on one condition, next time you and Nightwish perform in the Netherlands, i want to do this song with you and the band, in your version". And.. that actually happened and it was recorded for all to see, the moment the first notes hit, the crowd went nuts and Henk was cheered onto the stage, an amazing experience.

I really liked your sensitivity, you felt everything to the max: the drama, the intense emotions, the theatricality. Although you are still at the beginning of your exploration, I predict that we will meet again for a long, long time... Red, you can call me Gabi (or Gabe, if you want) This was the last performance of the TV show in the 2019 season, and literally - the crowning of the entire season. As you can imagine, there was an explosion of joy among Nightwish fans, all of them witnessing Floor's success in her country. The Dutch media then rushed to invite her for interviews, and the possibility of solo concerts for Floor in her country, unthinkable until the broadcast of this TV show, became an increasingly obvious option. As a fun element - during the filming of this episode in Ibiza there was a storm with thunder and lightning, and the heavy rainfall almost flooded the tent where it was filmed, so the technical teams intervened to collect the water - you can notice, even during this performance, drops falling through the roof of the tent. And the thunder at the beginning was not a sound effect added at the montage.. :)

Salute, General. I didn't know the thunder was no sound effect. If you still needed proof that Floor is with the heavens, you got it right there. Wow. @@progoholic It's definitely not an urban legend. The source is the original recording of the TV show. You can see there as Floor and Henk joke around the puddles, and look up worriedly at the rainwater streams running through the tent, while the storm can be heard in the background.

@@gabriel.bardac Well, the skeptic in me would say that there are ways in post production of a TV show which wasn't aired live, to add that thunder or at least enhance it... at 5:40 when Henk went with distortion, this was only the second time he'd used it publicly. He learned to do it as a surprise for Floor's show on the couch, and when they did a bit of practice for this didn't do it as he'd been keeping it secret. So after giving it for his cover of Sound Of Silence (worth the watch. Henk is a cool guy, you should see him do Country for Ruben), he still had not used it as Phantom. Hence Floor's reaction when he cranked it on for her here, too. He has since done it a lot with her on her solo shows, and as mentioned elsewhere, with her and Nightwish when they played Amsterdam.

Red, you're sitting there with your mouth open once again. No worries, that's most of us, too. Floor does that. She is after all, our Valkyrie Queen. I first encountered Floor several years ago when I ran across her performance of O Mio Babbino Caro (Puccini). I was flabbergasted and Floorgasmed. I'm an older guy, and my musical interests have run from classical to jazz to rock and electronica. I have a ton of LPs, some of which are over 50 years old and date back to when I was buying them back in my college days (yeah, I'm an old fart). Same for CDs. Then I discovered Floor and symphonic metal. You, my dear, have just embarked on what promises to be an epic journey. You've only just dipped your toe into the deep dark ocean that is Nightwish. I'm sure that some of the Nightwish Army have suggested that you give a listen to Epica, another classically trained symphonic metal group led by the terrifyingly beautiful and cosmically talented Simone Simons. She, like Floor is another Dutch goddess and it's no coincidence that they are best friends. So if you can handle having your mind blown yet again, check out Epica's Sancta Terra where Simone and Floor join together. Then for a truly, ahem, epic experience, listen to Kingdom of Heaven part 3 from their Omega Live set. Trust me, you have no idea.

Great reaction. This is my favorite Nightwish like version of this song. The Marcel Fisser band uses the Nightwish arrangement here but makes it more rock and not as metal as Nighhtwish but still good. For me Floor's voice here is perfect. It is brighter then her performance with Henk and Nightwish in Amsterdam in 11/22. Here she is using a more musical theater style while in the Nightwish version she is going for a more operatic sound, although I do love how she holds that D5 note at the end for like 12 seconds in Amsterdam. Henk is a famous Dutch musical theater star and famous for his roles as the first Phantom in the original Dutch stage production of the Phantom of the Opera and also as Jean Valjean in the Dutch production of Les Miserables. Floor saw him as a teenager performing as the Phantom and was a huge fan of his from that point forward. Getting a chance to sing with him was a big reason she agreed to do the show. She asked Henk to do this duet with her for the final show which is all duets. Henk agreed as long as he could sing it with Nightwish when they next performed in Amsterdam. The pandemic delayed it by several years but in 11/22 Floor and Nightwish kept their promise. Fans kept hoping they would do it but they kept it a secret, even rehearsing using their in ears only so no one outside the venue would hear it. Then during he show Tuomas hit those drone notes on his keyboard and everyone went nuts knowing what was about to happen. Floor and Henk have gone on to be great friends and perform in each other's solo shows. Another great collaboration between them is a version of Dangerous Games from the musical Jekyl and Hyde. First recorded as a video during the pandemic and released on Floor's YT channel they also performed it during Floor's solo show in Amsterdam in 9/21 (video of performance also on her YT channel, professional recording of that concert was crowd funded by her fans and each song as well as the whole concert is on her YT channel). They also do a duet of her song Sweet Curse from her band Revamp in that concert. Sweet Curse is my favorite song that Floor sings (bonus she also wrote it). kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpDPoqmQi6iqeaM. Great song about the duality of love. Know you need to checkout my second favorite version of this song by Nightwish from the 2005 End of an Era concert with Tarja and Marko. Tarja is excellent, although I think song like the The Siren and Planet Hell are better vehicles for her gorgeous dark operatic voice. For me the real star of that performance is Marko's gritty, evil Phantom. He goes into tenor range at the end of the song with his metal distortion and screams. Best Phantom that I have ever heard.

Emotions like these, you don't only get from this song. Beware of "The Poet and the Pendulum", live from Wembley Arena. It had been Tuomas farewell song to the feelings he developed for his friend and primal singer of Nightwish, Tarja Turunen, yet it works for any kind of split-up...I was quite vulnerable at that time, so she hit me like a thunderstrike.

Thanks for your reaction. I was absolutely Floored when I saw this for the first time (did not know Floor at the time). Feeling exactly as in your reaction. Best Phantom performance ever! No doubt. Thanks, gingerneighbour!

I've seen so many reactions to Floor and Nightwish and I've seen my share of Floorgasms, but this multiple Floorgasm stuff is new to me 😂 Glad to see others with this passion for musical excellence 🤟😆

So heartfelt your reaction. Yes both are powerhouses Floor was suprised when Henk let out this growly vocals.

Arguably the best singer alive considering her versatility and storytelling ability. There is nothing about her performances that ever seem contrived, or self serving. Somehow she is just able to tap into the exact thing about the music that moves you. She makes everything her own, even covers. Thanks for the fun rewiew! Check out the Nightwish concert with Henk and Floor, its bigger and more bombastic! ..... This one is hard to beat tho for its intimacy. Speaking of intimacy, if you want to be blown away all over again by a pure, clear, Floor vocal check out "How's the Heart" acoustic version. Its a duet with Troy from Nighwish on nylon string guitar and backing vocals. Probably one of the most difficult melodies ive ever heard to be sung. Doubtful you will ever see anyone cover her version, its that stunning. Other faves of course are: .....Dead Boy's Poem ( Buenos Aires), Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley), Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) of course all of Wacken 2013, maybe her solo Amsterdam a few years ago. Then a bunch of her covers she did during covid.

I first heard this masterpiece in late 2019, and I still get chills. I can't even remember how many times I replayed those last few notes that Floor hit. One of, if not the most impressive live performance I've ever seen. After hearing this, Floor and/or Nightwish are most definitely on my list of bands to see live. I just hope that they come to my area someday soon

Jesus. This is where I’m supposed to comment on the performance and the reaction but all I can think of is all the intense chills that were running through my body from Floor’s vocals. Yikes. ❤

Unfortunately the COVID lockdown started not too long after 2019 Beste Zangers aired. Floor had to put her new found Dutch popularity on hold. Nightwish was side lined and Floor returned to her small remote farm in Sweden with her husband and young daughter. Eventually she recorded several songs from her home studio and put them on KZbin for her fans. These included "Euphoria" , "Let it Go" , "Into the Unknown", "Alone", "Adagio", and "Oblivion." Once the COVID craziness ended she returned to Nightwish and also began a solo tour with many of the songs made popular on Beste Zangers as well as solo album of her own music called "Paragon." Her solo touring band was chosen from the musicians she got to know on the 2019 Beste Zangers show. Recently she had her second daughter LUCY.

And Dangerous Games, also with Henk Poort. I've seen them perform it live several times, but the studio recording still gets me.

I guess this version is actually based on the Nightwish version of the Phantom of the Opera. Maybe you can follow this up with the actual Nightwish live with Henk Poort. It has the note to end all ending notes.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/in6VZJqXiZmtobssi=7k5m4oIl24ViGEQe

This is the leading song from the world famous musical ‘Phantom of the Opera”, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It recently went off Broadway after decades. Henke Porte is the musical singer/actor of The Netherlands that has played the phantom for decades. Floor saw him as a young teen in the role. When she came on this show he had never heard of her, although she had twenty years of fame in the metal world. She asked him to do this with her, & he agreed only if she would do it with him at a NW concert, which they did two years later in 11/22. You might want to now do that one, although NW music is better, I like their interaction, & the brightness of Floor’s voice I like better in this one. Floor has really brought a big lift to his career since this show, inviting her to sing it in many venues with her. Her big smile at him when he started singing was about him using distortion, which he had never done, but now on his quest to be more of a rocker, it seems. There is nothing our Valkyrie, can’t do with her astounding voice, including guttural growling. 😎

Great reaction again. Floor's vocal range is insane, but her ability to emotionally connect to the song and share that with an audience makes her very rare. Truly the voice of her generation. The great part about Beste Zangers is that it was a singing show put on by singers for singers. Everyone in that panel were competing on the show. Floor did win. But this show truly allowed Floor to highlight her versatility and ability. It also got non Dutch audiences a chance to see Henk Poort who was amazing in this song. Floor and Henk have performed this live at shows since. Please keep sharing your heartfelt reactions with us. Its nice to see passion and love for beautiful music.

Hello Gorgeous, I am so glad that you got this reaction unblocked. WOW. And again, no real need to say much, 'cause your beautiful face talks volumes, whole encyclopedias... Thank you again for those precious moments you are so generously sharing with us all. And I have never heard a more visual depiction for this brilliant performance than 'a palace was built'. Just glorious... Btw, the guy in the Ramones shirt is Tim Akkerman, the only artist in this Beste Zangers line-up, who you could consider slightly as a "rock musician", all the others are pop, folk, or classical singers. So Floor, as presumably "just" a Metal singer, consistently stunned the others with her vocal and artistic abilities... With love from Germany, Prog O'Holic

So, Floors performance is incredible, though it's well within her vocal capabilities, her performing Christines part as a piece of theatre whilst opposite her idol really made her go all out. That said, I think what truly makes this performance is Henk stepping out of his comfort zone. His going for the growl puts a spin on the Erik/Phantom character that doesn't really come across in the original productions, and in some ways fits the domineering, obsessive and commanding nature of the character in the musical better.

All these people on the couches professional singers and pop stars in the Netherland, Henk her partner was The Phantom on many stages, and the looks on all their faces just like mine, disbelief in just how amazing Floor is vocally. She did the same thing, and had the same responses from German stars, when she performed on Sing Meinen Song, a couple of years later, blew all their minds and stole the show.
@ronaldderooij17749 ай бұрын
Floor called this "a highpoint in my career". She loves Henk as a singer from her teenage years. She was only in "Beste Zangers" because of him. They never met before, they even had to rehearse on location for this song. She was performing with her idol. And Henk showed her respect by growling for the second time in his long career (he is opera/musical theatre specialist). Floor was thouroughly trained in musical theatre perfrorming also. Two professionals on small stage prepairing a highpoint in their professional life. That is what this song is.
