I started watching Lucy, back when another reactor picked up on her, back in 2021. He's been following her ever since, and so have I. Two of her more recent ones left me a bit lukewarm, but I am totally loving everything else she's been doing recently. Her sister is following her very quickly. I've loved this song for what seems like "forever," and for a lot of people, it really has been around that long! I think I've mentioned before that I've been singing since I was two. Until sometime in the 80s, I listened to the radio as constantly as I could, plus I had a whole family singing with me as I grew up. By the time 1955 rolled around, my dad had a dry-cell, transatlantic radio hooked up to his very tall antenna. There was pretty much someone listening to it all the time, and most of our news came from there (we lived two miles outside of Old Valdez, Alaska). As I grew older, after my chores were done (the mandate from my parents), I would stand in front of that radio, listening and singing along with everything I could ... for hours on end. Some facts about this song: it was first released in 1955 (when I was 5-1/2 years old), with music by Alex North, and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as the theme for the prison film Unchained (January 1955). Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It quickly became a standard, and one of the most recorded songs of 20th and 21st centuries (to date). The most notable duo to record it was The Righteous Brothers. By 2007, at least 1500 documented recordings of the song had been made by more than (at least) 670 artists, in multiple languages. During 1955, three versions of the song charted in the top 10 in the United States, and four versions appeared in the top 20 in the United Kingdom, simultaneously. That was a record for ANY song, ever, at that time. It was the only song to reach number one with four different recordings in the UK, until 2014. Of the hundreds of recordings made, the Righteous Brothers’ version from July 1965 (with a solo by Bobby Hatfield) became the "jukebox standard." Hatfield changed the melody in the final verse, and many covers from later years have been based on his version. That recording achieved a second round of great popularity, when featured in "Ghost," in 1990. In 2004, it was #27 in a "100 Songs" survey of "Top tunes in American Cinema." It's still going strongly today. One of the most recent, really great, versions of it (in my opinion) was posted on YT on Feb 14, 2022 (an appropriate date) by Home Free (whom I see you haven't yet touched!!! Oh my!!!). 😳😯 The title is simply "Home Free - Unchained Melody." It's fantastic!. Back to THIS reaction to THIS song. I love Lucy's recording, and I love your reaction. WELL DONE!!! Thank you very much, sir! 🔥❤😀

It’s impossible to critique Lucy Thomas. She is a virtuoso vocalist, she has every vocal technique in her kit, they are polished to perfection and she knows how and when to use them. She’s a natural born singer. She makes it look easy but I assure you that what she does is not easy, it takes years of training and practice. Throw into the mix a humble young lady with a demeanour and countenance second to none and you have the perfect package.

This is a PS to my earlier comment but could I suggest you take a look at where Lucy's story really started and react to a song from the Musical "Rosie" called "One Day", when she was a mere thirteen years old. Even then, she created a masterclass in vocal presentation.

Her beautiful sounding voice and vocal control is all that is that is needed to make it perfect and more beautiful. Thank you for supporting Lucy and kind words. Please stay safe, healthy, and free.

Hi Phar. Thanks for supporting Lucy. We've had every superlative in the book including fabulicious and are still not able to do her justice. She makes every song better. Adding a lot of hoopla and tralala to a song seldom is the right way to make it your own. Neither does singing barefoot. So she doesn't. There is a lot more where this came from. Ex. seen I Dreamed A Dream? Enjoy.

This subject of autotuning keeps rearing it's head when certain people hear Lucy sing. They have a problem that someone just cant be that good without help, being "Autotune" or "Pitch Correction" and it always seens to be from Angalina fans?. But these two young singers are not in competition, since Angalina leans more towards the Jazz genre, where as Lucy is all things music, from Rock to Classical Cross Over and a little Jazz e.g Etta James's At Last. Contrast that with Pie Jesu with Lucy's sister and that can only be pure talent added to the fact that Lucy is a trained vocalist. Chris Broom, her mentor would frown at any suggestion of vocal interference.

Hi Paul. Yes, this is Lucy’s best performance to date, and the best version of this song. Glad you experienced it. The other day, when you played Angelina Jordan’s version, I got some blowback from a couple of AJ fans when I said I preferred Lucy’s version. Perhaps a few Lucy fans can go to that video and put those 2 clowns (Tomwhite4736 and rmcc42) in their place, especially the comment by rmcc42 that Lucy is totally autotuned! Suggestions for more Lucy videos: Footprints In The Sand and We Can Change The World.

Thank you for reacting to Lucy! This is another example of how perfect Lucy sings difficult songs. Why should she sing it differently to ‘make it hers’ when she sings it better than anyone before. When you talk about the original performer, are you talking about the movie, ‘Unchained’ or the version sung by Bobby Hamilton of the Righteous Brothers. Assuming it to be the later as I have not heard the former, then Lucy is better without any doubt. Lucy sings every note whereas Hamilton has to use falsetto quite a bit as does several others. Increasingly, Lucy’s only singer who is comparable is Lucy.

Please play and react to: “I’LL NEVER LOVE AGAIN"; kzbin.info/www/bejne/apiUgqOrbr2Dgpo At only 15, Lucy’s mature voice performed an emotional and powerful performance even better than Lady Gaga’s original. Hi HopelesslyAddicted...I completely agree with your comments about Lucy. She has established herself as a unique vocalist with talent beyond compare, technical ability off the charts, and a pitch perfect voice. Add to that natural beauty and purity. Lucy has set the bar very high for others to follow. To compare Lucy with AJ is a mismatch. It is like comparing apples and oranges. The only similarity between them is they are young professional female singers. I am happy that AJ fans love AJ. She has also worked hard to get where she is today. Even though I am not an AJ fan because energetically, I don't resonate with her style. I wish her all the success she deserves for her dedication to her career.

@@Paul-PharaohTV I have seen a variety of his comments in which he says things that maybe shouldn’t be said in the way that he says it. I don’t think he realises that he could potentially be driving reactors away from Lucy, because they don’t want to deal with over zealous fans. Lucy used to be regularly reacted to by a couple (Mike and Ginger) but I think they have stopped doing them since they posted their last reaction, in which they spoke about receiving undeserved comments from Lucy “fans”. I’m not saying he was involved because they didn’t name names, but whoever it was they have driven a well supported reactor away from watching her. You guys don’t need that. Please keep reacting to Lucy and one of my favourite Whitney covers is Run to Me. I think she was about 17 when she recorded it but it is so very good both vocally and emotionally. All the best ❤️
