I could count a few dozen pharma companies, set up by Indians, which were in existence in 1951. Besides this, there were several British owned pharma companies, with manufacturing units or companies started by British, but were owned by Indians at or soon after independence. Baroda also had an early pharma company. Even Ambalal Sarabhai Enterprises may have set up its first pharma unit around the time of independence or soon thereafter.
@chandramoulir4568 Жыл бұрын
21:43 just want to put the facts straight; Several major pharmaceutical companies in India were founded between 1901 and 2001, each contributing significantly to the country's pharmaceutical landscape. Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, established in 1901, holds the distinction of being one of the earliest pharmaceutical companies in the Indian subcontinent. Other notable companies include Alembic Pharmaceuticals (1907), Glaxo India (1924), Cipla (1935), Lupin (1968), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1983), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (1984), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (1959), Cadila Healthcare (1952), and Wockhardt (1960). These companies have played pivotal roles in drug development, manufacturing, and research, making India a global hub for pharmaceutical innovation and production.

For his kind information Mr. Khalid Mahmood must know that first Pharmaceutical company and its unit in India started in Calcutta (kolkata ) in 1901 itself.😂😂😂 In 1935 CIPLA plant in Bombay/ Mumbai was established as Chemical, Industrial and pharmaceutical Laboratories. Alembic Pharmaceuticals was founded in founded in 1907 with manufacturing unit in Vadodara, Gujarat... etc.

Means they are importing formulations,adding fillers ,tableting or capsuling the product and sending it to the market.

An important question missed, was related to Transfer pricing. The international Pharmas buy APIs from their parent company, at exorbitant cost. Thus they siphon out all the profit. Establishing a Cracker industry is not just beneficial to Pharma Industry but to a lot of others. There's a whole range of Polymers, Elastomers and what not products that are used in many industries. Even if Pakistan doesn't have those industries that use them, they can still export as Gulf nations usually don't Petroleum Cracking Industries because of high investment. In my opinion Pakistan should invest in Biomass Cracking. It is the next gen thing where there's a lot of developments/investments and also good for environment. Also do a segment on biogas/biomass if possible. As the next COP27 is coming up and with Europe planning to implement carbon tax, many countries are investing in Power Gen. through Biogas. Reliance here in India has planned to build 100 biogas plants.
