Maam, thank you for this informative video ! I would like to know your view on migrating to Ireland as a support worker (pharmacy) by getting work permit for 3 yrs and then proceeding with PSI registration process. Me being a PharmD graduate, I always wanted to become an Ireland Pharmacist, but considering its long process including coming in student visa, made me to hold the decision and to try for other licencing exam options. But its now I came to know through an ireland immigration agency about this opportunity to work as a support worker in pharmacy by getting work permit. But before making a decision it would be very helpful if i get an opinion about the same from a pharmacist like you who have already registered in PSI. Hope you will be able to give me a response.
@magicalbackpacker34834 ай бұрын
Hi Sabareesh, Could you tell me what you mean by a support worker in an Irish pharmacy? In Ireland usually it’s the pharmacist and the pharmacy technician that’ll be working together. But the pharmacy technician’s role is not eligible for work visa. So I am not sure what type of visa you’ll be granted that will allow you to work in a community pharmacy setting. It would be great if there is a way you can get work visa to work in a community pharmacy and then sit the exam while you are on work visa. Definitely working in a community pharmacy here in Ireland will open better opportunities to you and can be helpful for the exam as well. But do enquire properly about what type of visa you’ll be getting and on what role you’ll be working. I hope you’ll be able to make an informed decision. Do leave a comment if you have any further queries. All the very best.

@magicalbackpacker34835 ай бұрын
Hello, Yes indeed. Ireland has big pharmaceutical industry and you can secure a good job with one of the pharmaceutical companies in Ireland if you try hard enough. Definitely if you get a masters degree from one of the colleges in Ireland you’ll get more opportunities. Unfortunately in Ireland for practicing as a pharmacist there is only one course which is the Mpharm (5 years course). No other masters courses are acceptable. The rules might change in the future. The best option for Bpharm students will be to do a masters in Ireland and secure a job with one of the pharmaceutical companies while you are on your stay-back visa. You will get 2 years stayback visa after completing the masters giving you enough time to secure a job in the industry. Another option is if you have plenty of industry experience you can try and apply for jobs in Ireland from India itself. LinkedIn and Indeed are popular job platforms in Ireland. All the best to you.

In India different consultancy services such as academically saying after passing PSI exam in Ireland pharm D Freshers Internship Are available on basis of PSI Score and these are paid in between 35- 40 euro per hr and they say there is no need of msc course to migrate Ireland they say only Pharm D Freshers directly apply for Jobs In Ireland after PSI Internship completed so plz clear my this confusion it is true or false
@jafz9945 ай бұрын
Yes it is true only Pharmd is eligible
@magicalbackpacker34835 ай бұрын
Hi, This is not completely true. It is true that after completing first exam(equivalency exam) you can get placement as a pre-registration pharmacist in a community pharmacy and they might pay you a minimum of 14€/hr. After internship you have to pass the second exam (PRE) which is conducted here in Ireland before you can register as a pharmacist with the pharmaceutical society of Ireland. After getting pharmacist registration with PSI you have to secure a job as a pharmacist in some pharmacy in Ireland and process your visa based on that job. As a pharmacist you’ll get paid around 35€, but you have to go through all the processes mentioned in this video before you can become a pharmacist in Ireland. The reason people take masters and then do the exam is because it is difficult to secure job and get visa even after getting registration with PSI. So if they are already in Ireland securing job and visa will be easier. I hope this information helps you to make an informed decision. All the best to you

Hi, Filling the application form is pretty straight forward. You’ll find the application form in the PSI website and a supplementary document explaining what documents are required and how to submit the documents. All the documents from University or the pharmacy council needs to be send from them to the PSI directly by email or post. Please visit the link in the description box for more information. Thank you

Hi, The process will be same if you apply from Pakistan. You’ll only have to move to Ireland to do an adaptation(Internship) and to sit the PRE exam(second exam). The application form can be send by post and the equivalency exam (first exam) you can do online from Pakistan. You can still apply to sit the exam even without any experience if you have Doctor of pharmacy(PharmD) qualification. All the best

Hi, good question. The course you would want to choose will depend on your interest I suppose. But If you are looking to take a course just as a way to come to Ireland then there are cheap business courses offered by different universities here in Ireland. I did masters in pharmaceutical business which was not as expensive as other pharmaceutical masters offered by other universities. Comparatively business masters are the cheapest. I shall try and do a video on various masters pharmD graduates can pursue after doing some proper enquiries and research on it very soon. Thanks

Is it difficult to get a job visa in Ireland because most of them prefer to do a degree and then get registered as pharmacist?
@magicalbackpacker34835 ай бұрын
Community pharmacies are a small and comparatively less inclusive sector in Ireland. It is also highly regulated and in a pharmacy the pharmacists are the final responsible and accountable person at any time. One has to be highly competent and trustworthy with Good communication skills to get hired. Familiarity with Irish pharmacies and Irish people will be a plus in job search. They would prefer to choose Irish/ european graduates and could be reluctant to hire pharmacists from non-European countries unless there is an absolute scarcity of pharmacists. They would want to avoid the hassle of visa process as well. This is the sad reality. So if you get a degree in Ireland it’ll give you time to get familiar with the place and people and open more opportunities. If you are looking to get a job in Ireland from India I would recommend to go for industry based jobs rather than in community pharmacies. If you have pharmacist registration with PSI you’ll also get better opportunities in the industry. Best of luck to you.

@@sohelsugavawale28 Hi, after you pass the PSI exams. Either you can do a course and migrate to Ireland and find a suitable job while you are here, or you can secure a job from India and process visa based on that job (this option can be quiet challenging). Unfortunately currently there are no visas granted just based on the fact that we passed the PSI exam. Rules could change in the future. Job opportunities are available and you’ll be able to secure a job if you try hard enough. For industry based jobs you don’t necessarily need to have PSI registration. Only to work as a pharmacist in a community or hospital pharmacy you need to have pharmacist registration with PSI.
