Pharmacy Job Saturation is old but relevant news, but another number one lie people will make you believe is that Pharmacy is the healthcare profession with the most diverse route! WRONG! Nursing is the most diverse healthcare field with a provider component as well........so pls tell us a new story......

@Mount I know nurses making more than 150K, the funny thing is people will tell you that they want to be in Healthcare but will not go for nursing in undergrad its a fail safe option, you can literally, the only respect I have for PharmDs are the ones in the 6 year program which is the only one that kinda makes sense in terms of opportunity cost

Thanks for the video, Paul. I've since pivoted from pharmacy, but this is rather valuable to pre-pharmacy and pharmacy majors. It's definitely important to network hard regardless of the job sector but is especially important in pharmacy in finding your niche.

So pharmacy grads are not heavily recruited after graduation? The cost of a pharm D is to great to have to “network” for a job and I hear there are hundreds of applications for even part time positions. Go to med, dental, or nursing school folks.

Hi Paul, I am a P1 in pharmacy school highly considering dropping out but I have no plan B or interest to go into any other health care profession. I'm thinking of switching over to a different field and entering microbiology but I am hesitant to drop out of school without having another plan solidified. Would you still suggest just dropping out and avoiding having to pay another semester? Or maybe taking a leave of absence from school?

Hey man I've watched a few of your videos and I understand the poor job growth, especially in the retail industry. I am currently a high school senior wanting to go into pharmacy, and I wanted to know the chance that I could get into the business side of Pharmacy. I'll be able to get a lot of scholarships for in-state college so I will have little to no debt when graduating so that does not worry me. I just want to prepare now to be networking so that I can find a job after graduation and wanted to know the best way I should go about doing that while in school. Thanks!

Ultimamente Don't even bother. There are going to be an additional 60,000 unemployed new grad pharmacists looking for work by the time you graduate. All of these pharmacists by then will be looking for "non-traditional" jobs like going to the business side or whatever you can dream of and more. I would choose another career altogether instead of the hellhole that is pharmacy

Ultimamente I'm not a new grad nor do i work retail or hospital so I'm not "representative" of the average pharmacist. I haven't looked for a job myself for years but do keep up with current market trends and am involved with the hiring process of other pharmacists -- I will tell you that new grads have zero chance in this job market because there are hundreds of applications from pharmacists with experience for each job posting. No need to hire nobody with no experience.

Thanks for the video Paul. It seems that the future of pharmacy is uncertain for new grads. I’ve been hearing that BLS is usually behind a few years so the percentage of the job outlook is actually lower than -3%. Since I dropped out of pharmacy school a few years ago, I’ve been looking into software engineering to avoid racking up additional debt. If it doesn’t work out I had thought about reapplying to pharm school but it doesn’t seem like a good idea unless the job market corrects itself but even so it could probably take another 10+ years right?
@xigosutoxic4 жыл бұрын
Julie Do The pharmacist job market won't ever correct itself. Do you think jobs at Blockbuster's "corrected themselves" after streaming services like Netflix and Hulu came out? Nope. The entire video rental industry was disrupted and this is exactly what is happening to pharmacy due to automation which will cause massive permanent job losses. Oh yeah, and there are also 15,000 more pharmacists than needed graduating each year.
