Generally, as we grow older, the kidney and renal function decline. We need to exercise caution when dosing drugs in older adults. For some drugs you will need to take into consideration the declining organ function into consideration and adjust the doses. For many other drugs no change in doses needed. Drug product monographs are the best resources and some apps like Lexi has a dosing section for older adults that could be used.
