Hey there Professor D! Just stopped in to do a little refresher on material - even once we have our license we should always make sure we are maintaining our knowledge.. firstly, want to tell all the watchers this lady will help you, I watched her for a week or two before my NCLEX and knocked it out in 75 questions! Secondly, to Professor D, I was just watching your integumentary video and you were stating that you could not get your subs up to 10,000.. here we are, 7 months later, and I see that you are killing it (over 43,000 and counting)!! I have a clarifying question at minute mark 35. The question asks which statement indicates that the client needs additional teaching concerning taking Haldol. It appears as if all the answers are correct, but that the answer that the patient needs further education on is: "I am more susceptible to colds and the flu when taking this medication". But if this is a true statement d/t risk of agranulocytosis.... why is this response the one that patient needs additional education/teaching? Side note, I love your videos and I love that you go over testing questions and WHY they are right, but also WHY they are wrong. It helps SO MUCH
@jevonrushing64092 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing . I think it’s because the medication used in this question is an typical antipsychotic rather than an atypical antipsychotic such as Clozapine which she used in one of the previous questions.

I think she may have made a mistake. I think it’s #4. I love this channel I just watch out for some minor errors sometime she will read answer 3 but then say the answer for 2. If that makes any sense.

I had a question about one of the questions...it's a little before 14 mins into the video. It's a question about amitriptyline. I understand the answer about tapering off this med, however, wouldn't you want to ask the client first why they want to stop taking the med? I would want to see if it's because of side effects and then educate them about tapering off the med if they need to get off of it. I love your videos and your explanations are very helpful....this one you did not go over the wrong answers and I was just wondering about it. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Professor! At 32:31 look at that question. The client says “ I am more susceptible to colds and flu when taking this medication” why do they need additional teaching? We know antipsychotics cause agranulocytosis which puts client at risk for infection. Or is it that the question says haloperidol and not clozapine? ❤

Agranulocytosis is an adverse side effect, not a normal side effect; therefore, it's not normal to be susceptible to cold/flu. (Correct me if I'm wrong, professor D)

Professor the question around 33 min I am confused with the answer. Why would the pt need additional teaching when in fact the pt would be susceptible to colds and the flu
@SaidNooneEver2368 ай бұрын
Because they are suceptible if the pt was prescribed risperidone or clozapine (2nd generation antipsychotics) , not haloperidol as the question states.
@aaliyahnelson19102 жыл бұрын
Great video Professor D but can you revist with antipsychotics question . The hallucinations and delusions will not go away. They will be reduced. We are taught the they never completely go away. I wash thinking that the answer is C. The patient understands that heis at risk for infections due to agranulocytosis.

Love Professor D’s videos!! I have a question if anyone can help? In the video around 32:49 is a question on which statement indicates the client additional teaching concerning this (haloperidol) medication? And Professor D said the answer is #3 “I am more susceptible to colds and the flu when taking this medication” which is a true statement so why would that need further teaching? I chose #4 as the answer because antipsychotic drugs do not 100% make the hallucinations and delusions go away. Am I missing something here?
