There's no difference, they are unshaped physical forms of semi solid dosage forms

Ointment is oil based topically applied While cream is a thick liquid or semi-solid substance also topically applied.

Hello! if you have completed Pharm-D and want to get licensed as a pharmacist in US, I recommend taking the time to get pharmacy technician license while preparing for the pharmacist exam because that can be time taking. Meanwhile with the technician license you'll be able to work in pharmacy and get experience which will help pass the pharmacist exams.
