Does the Young's Rule work for injectable drugs ,, especially if the adult dose of any drug is in ML ? Not mg

From what I’ve researched, no. On injectables it requires the BSA which is the body surface area.

What if the question states both the child’s age and weight. Ex: a 5 year old child that weighs 45 lbs is prescribed amoxicillin…..etc, Which rule should be used? Clarks or young’s rule

If it were me and I knew both formulas, I would use both and choose my answer based off of the multiple-choice questions.

This answer is based off of the current year which is 2020, so the child is...he’s actually still 9 years old. So if he’s 9, your answer will be =128.57mg

Remember, your multiple choice answers are sometimes a good guide. It just depends on your multiple choice answers, don’t round if the exact answer is available as a answer unless it states, “Round final answer”,
