John Hicks, just packs ups all the keys at once. Pharaoh is just the voice that speaks so eloquently and deeply! Thank you Pharaoh for all the joy!

Whenever anybody asks me why I love Jazz music, I send them this piece of music. It is the complete jazz track. A fantastic, balanced line up, with some amazing individual performances. If you can't appreciate this, you have already left planet earth.

I really agree with this comment! John Hicks was one the greatest pianists in jazz who never got the credit he deserved.

McCoy Tyner, Lonnie Liston Smith, John Hicks, William Henderson. No wonder Pharoah doesn't mind going to work everyday.

Increíble !! Aplausos !!

Great musicians are always in sync. This is a great example of a sideman that can make a performance. John Hicks was that man for Sanders.

only 47,490 persons have heard & seen this once-in-a-lifetime performance. Probably less, actually. Many, like me for example, have played the clip multiple times.

is that Idris Muhammed on drums
@aroneus10 жыл бұрын
None other. Or, as Pharoah would say, "The GREAT Idris Muhammad on drums . . . here." Was sad to see that he died just this past year at the age of 74. This was my favorite of Pharoah's compositions that he performed at the Village Vanguard in the 80's and Idris M. was always great on it. Loved John Hicks, but the best night I ever saw for Doktor Pitt was when Harold Mabern was on piano. Thought the piano was actually going to leave the floor he was pounding it so hard.
@wbhrash9 жыл бұрын
+aroneus Didn't know Harold Mabern ever played with Pharoah. Wish I could have been there to hear it.
@aroneus9 жыл бұрын
+William Hill Yes, only saw Mabern with Pharoah on that one night, and maybe it was my favorite performance. John Hicks was great, too, though, and William Henderson on harmonium added another dimension.
