I am almost certain Prince didn't accept the song because he has this whole "written, arranged, perfomed & produced by Prince" thing going on , that is partly what his legendary icon status was built on. When Frontin' was offered to Prince he hadn't had a real hit in years and I am sure he wouldn't like it if people would start to say that he needed Pharrell to have a hit again.
