What Ish doesn't understand is that even the quality of their musical productions has been impacted by their separation. @@ronniesnakehissiii9413 most of their sounds are just korg triton presets, which was a digital and primarily sample based workstation. not much different from the audio that comes out of your computer. in fact, there’s a basically perfect emulation of it available for modern DAWs with all the same sounds. it’s less the sound or quality of sound but more the creativity in selecting and combining ones that are individually unremarkable, their usage of minimalism, and their deceptively simple songwriting. all of these traits are very “out of fashion” in pop now unfortunately and have fallen by the wayside across the industry.

@@jaimerodriguez1550 sure, unavoidably so - but I can guarantee you that running a triton through a console preamp or some expensive compressor in a studio rack wasn’t the secret to their sound or success. the mixes on their tracks back then aren’t any better, or more saturated and warm than the tracks Pharell produces today. their sauce at that time period was all in the craft and their ears as musicians and producers. the limitations of hardware at the time might have contributed to them coming up with creative solutions and using sounds they might not today, but I think it’s silly to attribute their success to their signal chain. I think people romanticize artists’ tools too much, and overestimate the power and sound of “analog” workflows, when really it’s all about hard work and having taste and skill that other people don’t.

Been listening to The Neptune's since the early 2000s when I was living in Oahu, Hawaii. Their sound was different and refreshing. The characterization that Pharrell tried to cut Chad out is debatable. Chad’s lawyers are saying that Pharrell’s team didn’t include him in the filings but Pharrell’s lawyers said they contacted Chad and his team several times and got no response. And anyone who has been following The Neptunes knows Chad is notoriously hard to get in contact with and rarely talks publicly or does interviews. Hopefully, this sorts itself out because they are both legends.

That sounds as dumb as when executives tell me that they are travelling next week so they will be out of the loop and cant correspond while travelling. Like they said, its a simple fix, Pharrell filed the paperwork and now chad lawyer is saying put his name on it. It only cost a couple of bucks to add someone name to a legal document and that would solve the issue but for some reason Pharrell would rather argue this nonsense and have his bodyguard Pusha make statements about it instead of simply adding dudes name as he should have done in the first place

Even some of the classic HipHop catalog is now South Korean owned (via Scooter Braun though). I can totally see why Pharrell’s team would feel the need to file something expeditiously. Esp given their label woes in the early 2000s, there may be loose ends out there that they felt it CANNOT wait for Chad to get on the same page. “Act now, apologize later.” I can also see Chad being in his bubble, difficult to get in contact with in a timely manner. But, I can also see BOTH of them being in their KanYe bag… basically so focused on being creative that they not really closely, Closely watching what the lawyer is ACTUALLY doing.. versus what he’s telling him he’s doing. Keep it business, split everything half and half. There should never be no third party entity in a partnership business and endeavors. Both party management and attorney's, CFO's, CEOs, et al., involved to fix this mess and putting frivolity in the media space rather go talk business and not mess with a friendship and partnership that is benefiting everyone. If not dissolved the whole entities and nobody can used the names and any and all entities affiliates. Everyone can go do them if this messy mess is not resolved.

I beleive Pharell is trying to relaunch or do.some kind of Project under the Neptunes name, either because its going to be related to content from that Neptunes era or he is producing new content but knows Chad wont get involved, and he knows Neptunes brand has more authenticity and value than jist Pharell alone. Therefore, him trying to pull the quick one on Chad with the Neptunes brand.

There's a reality that for the past like decade+, well over 90% of any "The Neptunes" tracks is Pharrell solo producing. If it isn't NERD or Justin Timberlake, it's pretty much just Pharrell. Check the credits. "P. Williams" is on everything. "C. Hugo" shows up once in a blue moon. This suit is easily the most interest Chad has shown in anything Neptunes related in like 15 years.

The Neptunes haven't made a decent beat together since 2005. Pharrell went solo from 2006.. Both his solo albums flopped big time.. Last 2 n.e.r.d albums have bern 💩 💩 💩 I felt like Pharrell took over entire sound production Lemon was absolute 💩 💩 💩 Didn't sound nothing like n.e.r.d Just sounded like Pharrell doing his own s..t

I think 1999 - 2009 was their best run. Superthug from Nore opened doors from them. They owned the 2000s and was on a run from 2002-2006. Slowed down when Pharrell start going solo. Timbaland still got that 🔥 though

There is some credence to attorneys trying to milk conflicts though because a lot of divorces could be fixed and properly settled even outside of court but attorneys love those attorney fees. So I'm not completely ruling out that an attorney in this situation could have gotten just as greedy but Pharrell is definitely wrong for not coming directly to Chad first and making it very clear and known what his intentions were if he really wanted to keep Chad in the loop.

It's not hard when it's 50/50. Both names on everything all cash in and out is split 50/50. Anyone making that more complicated is trying to scam PERIOD.

Sounds like Pharrell is trying to phase out the silent partner.
