There's a lot of controversy surrounding Season of Discovery and Phase 4 currently. Here's why I think no matter what is being said, Phase 4 will be absolutely MASSIVE.

You’re dead on. WoW players really struggle to grasp that the state of a live service game dramatically shifts moment to moment. The idea that there won’t be a massive resurgence the second that blizzard announces the next new raid that will be released alongside all the 51-60 content that we’ll be getting next phase is just crazy.

Sadly, I have a feeling there may be something similar to them to let people gear up quicker then through dungeon grinding for gear. The devs must realize that the retail xpac in early fall is going to be a big hit to SoD. I'm sure they want people to be able to experience the raids. Another option might be tokens that drop for everyone from last bosses in 5-mans for the dungeon sets. That would be cool. There's still a reason to do the 5-mans at 60 (vs with the incursions making it all but pointless to do most 50 dungeons) but it'll speed up the pre raid gearing for people.

Looking at active users for SoD and then multiplying that by 15 only gave me like under 3 mil or something when I did it months ago. Now there's server cost, marketing or HR, non monetary employee compensation like insurance. Plus office rent and then big daddy ACTi visions take. People want to talk about the BILLIONS they've got, but that's from other games. They don't trust Classic+ enough to throw a bunch at it, which is their problem. Just saying though, most people don't break down the actual math of stuff. They're making money off classic, but nothing like they make off in game purchases in their other games.

Idk why this is so controversial, but I agree raids need to be locked for like a week after release. Your hardcore world first will still get their chance at pushing world first.

What’s the difference between grinding incursions and grinding dungeons? I’m on a pve server but it’s a fast, easy way to get a whole set of gear. I have casually leveled 5 50’s. Preparing professions for the real end game.

I 1000% agree man! The most fun I had in TBC and WOLTK was the grind for pre bis before the raid opened. They must delay MC and ONY for 10 days and not have it open at launch.

with runes - I think they should leave them a lone a bit and see how people feel - I think a lot of people got burned out in p3, this usually happens around 6 months in - the runes can be annoying but they can also encourage some exploration, grouping/socializing and cooperation that is true to the spirit of classic I think its cool that some of the runes are pretty rare and hard to acquire

They also really need to combat inflation. Add supply to consumables and profession mats. Add a daily to heroic dungeons or normal if there is no heroics. If i have to buy gold cause i can't afford consumables I'll just quit

I hope you're right. I logged on SoD yesterday to help a new player get caught up for when our raiding guild comes back and I was really surprised how many people were running around Elwynn, Stormwind and Westfall. I wouldn't say it's booming again yet, but it sure as heck isn't dead.

Tbh i enjoy the SoD whole time from release and now its pretty chill to do all the stuff in pretty dead world .. u can farm anything without competition and be very ready for p4, which i believe will be great.

If you haven’t noticed this is normal behavior for wow players. Every 2/3 months you jump ship to a new game or something else. But everyone ALWAYS comes back. Especially when your talking about level 60 classic endgame. This is some of the most iconic stuff that’s ever been in wow, people would be flocking back even if it was a no changes lvl 60 endgame. I have not a doubt in my mind that for sod p4, you’re going to be very surprised when you see how popular it actually is.

Having world buffs is not the majority. The problem with SoM was timing not content. World buffs are aids and need to be removed. It destroys balance when you have so many stats coming from temp buffs

i think ur totally right with everything u said. the most impotant thing will be the prebis farm, adjust the items out of BRD etc. make them a little bit more powerful and let us enjoy that prebis farm its really one of the coolest things on fresh servers of classic wow. also the catch up mecahic for runes is a must as u said, i had problems getting all my ruens on my priest in MARCH i dont want to know how it is now if anyone starts a new char.

We need loot scarcity, ST gave loot way to easily. Loot scarcity means prebis and 0.5/0.0 tier actually means something. They can't do just STV again for a PVP event for a third time. Sure don't get rid of it but man we need something else. (Maybe a super simple battleground. Could even be a capture the hill with one flag in the middle of the map that's just a giant fight. BUT JUST SOMETHING ELSE FROM STV. Upgrade profession items, 95% of them were trash in vanilla, please buff some of them or change some of them. No more incursions, or at the very least limit how many people can do in a day. If incursions came out with a max limit of 5 per day it would have been 100% fine as content. New zones/Raids/Quest hubs. AND old runes purchaseble. I'm excited for P4, but man I really hope they learned from their mistakes.

Well as someone who has been playing wow for really long time, SOD was such a breath of fresh air. It has been going down a road that is too reminiscent of retail. And they need to go back to doing things like they did in phase 1. Also if phase 4 flops, there's always Twow. They have been killing it in the classic plus department.

Rep should be account wide and world buffs should work across all levels so that old content doesn’t just die. This would bring the world together as everyone would do all the raids each week old and new alike and bring old and new players together. Boosting XP for the new players and the players that are already max level would be doing it for the world buffs.

If they normalize warrior rage, or nerf us to the ground so that the other classes are better, none of us are coming back. They also need to tell us what the updated materials list is for the legendaries. If MC is out for 8 weeks before BWL, the mace has a material that is 33% drop rate off 1 mob, and we need 8 of them. It will be impossible to make, and it will be outclassed by Ashkandi.

I don't understand why ppl keep whining "SoD is dead". I don't feel that way at all. Yes, some people really made it so far but the SoD addition is just itself is unique and you still can do something for example having an alt that you wanted to level up. I am a working dad that enjoys WoW SOD and I like this slow phased movement as I always find what to do in the game when I login. I am pretty sure there are many just like me enjoying this moment. Giving gap for causal players additional 1-2 months is quite good approach I would say. The hardcore players still can find what to do after all. If you call a game "dead" it is most likely that you are bored and you should give it a break. Simple.

Make the old 40 man raids with 3 different tiers, 40 man option with the easiest difficulty and then have the option to do it 20 man and 10 man with the 10 man version having a higher difficulty and higher item level gear. Then pugs would work well and it would keep the small guilds engaged in doing the harder content.

Yep, make incursions high value dailies. Not spamable, but worth your time to make the trek to one of the zones. For the raid content, I’m good with a 7/10 delay and/or attunement for quest chain. I enjoyed attunements in TBC honestly.

20 had way less to do with why p3 suffered so bad than you think - it was administrative work on top of a bad phase. All sizes have their place and can be fun, even 40. Here's the thing - WHEN THE INTEREST IN THE GAME IS THERE, AND RAID SPOTS ARE COMPETATIVE, its really not as bad as people are pretending - people are imagining the interest in the game will be like it has been in p3 forever With MC I think 20 fits but something like AQ just doesn't feel as epic if its not 40 - and yes before people meme I am an officer, recruiter, loot master, and I manage logistics for my guild - point being I don't mind to organize because honestly thats what classic is alllllll about, preparation and organization Retail people have been harping that classic raiding is way easier for years, when it comes time to put in the work suddenly everyone needs it nerfed lol

If they keep the raid on a weekly lockout and 20+ man, P4 is dead on arrival. SoD P1/2 was so much fun for a large amount of us because it was more personal raid sizes, they were relatively short and every 3 days. The people who complain they want large 40 man raids on weekly lockouts are the same who play era, last time I checked era was dead, just like SoD became. Also, incursions didn't kill leveling. It was literally the same thing people would have been doing anyway. Incursions kept everyone in the world, not sitting in the waiting room of SM instances.

They also need to address the borked economy, especially those that got 10000's of gold on launch of p3, i got bored in p3, only really raid logged in previous phases too and haven't played for ages, the thought of grinding up all the gold to buy overpriced consumes cos of the inflation caused by incursions and Sod in general doesn't fill me with much desire to return.

I think you’re falling into the trap of Modern wow with “catch up systems” and has what messed up season 3 big time. You should be leveling in the world from 1-60. no catch ups and reducing exp from dungeons while making dungeon loot most rewarding.

While I normally would agree. In a seasonal format with an extremely increased rate of content phases. Catchup mechanics are absolutely needed. Otherwise people would fall behind and never be able to catchup and completely stop playing. In a REGULAR version of classic WoW, I agree catchup mechanics don't fit. But imagine someone trying to play SOD for the first time in P4 on launch day. Everyone else is 60 and clearing the raid and by the time you level from 1-60 and get all your runes and farm your prebis, Naxx is out and cleared and people are raid logging..

Classic wow in 2019 was HUGE because people wanted to raid level 60 again and do 40 mans. People won't come back to SoD at level 60 if raids are capped at 10 mans. Just give us a 20 to 40 man toggle with gear drops being adjusted between the two.

Level 60 on Classic era realms are still going strong and guilds are STILL raiding 40 mans in it due to how fun it is. They love getting their world buffs, going into BWL NAXX etc and blasting with their boys. Phase 4 is the biggest because the best content is at 60. I know people who stopped in phase 1 because they didn't like the level caps and said they'd come back once lvl 60 is out.

I think we all understand the desire for the wow streamer community to keep the copium going since it is what funds their lives. But the average player has accepted that there will be no new raids. Blizzard already said the teasers were just that, teasers and they have zero commitment to putting that in game. In the end, how many times do people need to say "if done right" when talking about next phase/expansion? It never has in the past been done right, so what changes were made to make it this time? But don't worry, your preraid bis is 100% that buffed ST gear and they will blame the community for that since the community said ST was bad because the gears stats were poorly considered as upgrades. In the end, I hope all the competent content creators keep their jobs and successfully find a way to move their built communities to other games as the SoD ball is fumbled in the 4th quarter once again.

I would have to disagree, respectfully of course. I know I might be in the minority here, but the difficulty of ST killed my guild. 3 times actually. We merged 3 times to get a solid enough roster to clear it, but being 30y +, with a full time job and other obligations resulted in us not being able to clear the first 2-3 weeks. After that I had to take a break due to work, and when I got back into the game, it was dead. And now there are so few ST grps going, and I can't even get a spot because I don't have an 8/8 clear with purple logs. So I won't be able to clear it at all this phase as all my IRL friends have quit. The thing I miss most about 2019 classic was how easy most of the content was. I could game and relax at the same time and hop in and do some Pug raids when I had the time. If I wanted to put to much effort into the game I would have gone retail and done mythic+ and such. This being just my opinion on the matter tho.
