Pretty good info. I've been simming and for ret it seems you get very inconsistent numbers with both haste set and armor pen set. I would suggest going for haste set as even if it's technically not bis it is less contested and it's only about 50-60 dps behind haste on low armor bosses and slightly ahead on Brutallus and Muru. Not to mention haste set will outperform arp set in prepatch on both types of bosses. Also tier tokens should be ret prio they provide the largest dps increase as they also count as double upgrades, give them expertise bis items and they can replace Phase 2 leather gear with new stronger off pieces from any of the previous phase or crafted sunwell.

Can't see how the haste set outperforms the arpen set in prepatch, on single target, considering we're not seal twisting anymore. That, and the addition of Divine Storm, means a smaller portion of our dmg is based on auto-attacks while more of it is due to physical damage.

@@omarlozano9374 guaranteed seal procs, divine storm is 10 sec cd, crusader strike base dmg scaling gets nerfed.

Seals also will proc off crusader strike and divine storm instead of just auto attacks.

@@rubengonzalez3222 seal of blood does more base damage per swing than seal of vengeance, and those procs are also guaranteed. So that's another haste nerf. Yes, Crusader Strike's base damage was decreased by 33%, but so was its cool down, so it evens out. But let's say with all this extra holy damage Rets do, even with the addition of DS, physical still becomes a smaller portion of their single target damage profile. Does its nerf equal that to haste's effect? Doesn't seem very clear. However, if this guide is going to include tips for the prepatch gearing, it should definitely mention that BNS becomes much better for Rets due their ability to stack it more quickly, especially with cleaving.

That sucks big ass and makes no sense. Was tbc really designed this bad that 80% of the BiS items for ret paladin are leather? 🙄🙄
