That’s awesome! It’s unfortunate how expensive this digital back still is. There’s so much obscure and interesting photography equipment I wish I could buy. If I was rich, my collection would be ridiculous.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Yeah they are pricey! They're are some variants that aren't too bad like the P25 or P20 sometimes you see them hovering for 700usd to 1000usd but there is the associated cost of getting a body or adapter to make it work on what you want to shoot. I will say compared to the GFX though the mamiya non blue ring stuff isn't actually tooo expensive.

The P45 is a fantastic back. I own the plus variant and really enjoy using it. It does have a defective LCD but it still works fine. I had upgraded to this from a P25+ and although the P25 was a fat pixel back, I thought the P45 was a great upgrade.

Hey, killer review. PO is an interesting company. I am with an HB X2D now with the XCD 55V and pretty happy with IQ. The old Kodak sensors are always good and we are all sorry that Kodak stopped. OTOH, the HB Sony CMOS BSI sensor is tuned pretty nicely. They are making progress with CMOS. Thanks for your work. Cheers, eh.

Thanks! Yeah the Sony medium format sensors really seem to be very epic! I am very impressed with the older 50mp in my GFX50s. Yeah I'm sad they are out of the game I think really the only remaining big CCD maker is Dalsa.

Hello Mr.50mm another great review after Aptus 22 :) P45 great back is the same back like my Hasselblad H3DII_39.There is two interesting P-series back in my opinion : P18 and P20.P18 comes with 44x33 but have just 18Mpx resolution and if i good remember 9x9micron size.Those tools are jewels to me "Pure Photograpic Gear" since i start shooting with my Hasselblad H3D everytime i see images in my Lightroom i cant stop watching on them.The 16bit colour depth is just amazing.Wanna thank you for videos like that Keep on rocking best regards ®😍
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah I believe the sensor in both are Kodak KAF units! It was awesome the variety of digital backs available in the past. I think it was the P25 that has the same sensor as the Aptus 22 and the P20 is that square format! Both like you said having that 9x9um pixel! Yeah the 16 bit color depth is awesome! Something modern cameras are more and more starting to adopt on CMOS sensors.

I was wondering if we can still register for the free captureone if we are using Phase One. I currently have a phase one P25 and I am not able to register. I am not sure if the serial number at the bottom of the device is what we need to fill in because I tried to fill it in but I am having trouble. Can you please advise?
@Mr50mmish2 күн бұрын
Ah yes you can still get Capture One for Phase backs you have to register through the Phase One support. I believe you can first register the back then open a software ticket and then they should be able to provide you a key to activate Capture One. The support link is below: support.phaseone.com/

As the owner of a Fuji GFX100S and a ton of medium format film cameras, I still find these older MF digital cameras aspirational in a way. I lusted after them when I was young, and much like the Mamiya 645 Super that I eventually got for 1/10th of the price it was when new, I like the idea of them finally being sort of achievable. That said, I have _SO_ many oddball cameras, that I'm not sure what I would do with one. Great review, though, and definitely food for thought. A 645AF has long been on my radar!
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Ouu what's the most oddball that you got? Haha yeah the 645AF would be awesome, I do like the thought of being flexible on digital or film. Haha sadly the 645df+ will not take anything but a digi back

I've been wanting to get a digital back for a while, but it's a struggle for me to justify the cost. Beyond the unreasonable price for only the CCD, there is a need for the camera body, lenses and proprietary cables. While the objective difference in quality of the more modern cameras is somewhat comparable, what is no contest is portability. Especially for landscape photography, if I'm making the effort of taking something larger with me to shoot, I'm taking the Mamiya RB67, and maybe some small digital camera to tag along. Or only my Nikon D850 with a couple of zoom lenses. But I still want a medium format CCD, so I guess I need to keep looking for the „right one” 😅
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Yeah the system itself is a bit of a big buy. The nice benefit of the modern mirrorless medium format is are you say, portability. They are excellent! Hopefully you find the back that fits your needs! If it helps the Aptus line of them does use regular 3.5mm sync cables instead of super fun proprietary ones!

Yeah, I've also been pretty curious about how they are as well, if I come across a deal on one I might pick up an older one, the V mount ones seem to be able to mount on a lot of platforms so it's pretty ideal for what I like to shoot anyways.

If your in Canada the B3K shop may be able to help. Otherwise your best bet is to inquire with Phase themselves even if they don't support it anymore they maybe able to point you to somewhere that does.

Notice tha this is. CCD sensor - another level from most con/pro-sumer cameras featuring CMOS- more alike a pro-level video-camera… CCD are quite power hungry- but resolve more dynamic range than CMOS
@TechnoBabble3 ай бұрын
There is no CCD camera that has more dynamic range than modern CMOS cameras. What you said was true when CMOS was new in commercially available cameras, but hasn't been the case for a while.
