PhD student day in my life vlog: how to be productive when I'm feeling lazy 🙃

Welcome back to my SUMMER WRITING SPRINT! 🤍
This vlog shows a typical day in my life--most days I don't feel a ton of motivation to write and make dissertation progress (especially in the revision stage). I use some methods, like working in small bursts and setting timers, to trick myself into being productive. I also show non-traditional forms of productivity like going for a walk, connecting with loved ones, making time for hobbies, etc.

I needed this gentle productivity reminder!! Also, I don’t know if you watch Tara Michelle for your research, but her change of very publicly showing her last boyfriend versus not showing her current one is so interesting! She just dropped a video about the new guy and the comparison made me think of your work ( I am an aerospace engineering PhD so I love seeing how cool and different your research is from mine ) ❤❤

Two random questions… when you put your noise canceling headphones on, do you listen to music or is it specifically to Block out sound? Also, how do you choose the books that you read? Where do you find out about them? Lastly, the dinner that Megan made looked delicious! Thank you for a very comforting and relaxing vlog as usual! Have fun on your vacation!

Not Sarah 😅 but I recommend Goodreads to find out about books. You can find new releases or categories by genre to find books. You can also read peoples reviews and see the general rating.

@@bpal5644 thanks! Yeah, I’m a PhD candidate in literature so I know all of the resources… Ha ha ha… But honestly, I don’t go on good reads that often. Thank you! 😊 I was just curious how Sarah goes about finding book recommendations specifically.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! I almost always listen to lofi girl but sometimes I listen to instrumental jazz (especially in the fall and winter months). I find books from social media mostly! Lots of my friends read quite a bit, or I see them on booktok hehe, and I read the synopsis (and ratings!) on good reads. Other times, I'll aimlessly browse my fav bookstore or Good Will and read anything that stands out to me!
