Uh, man. That sudden shock that takes your breath away is the worst. Thank the Lord it wasn't super cold and windy, but still can be scary. Glad you're okay!
@timwagenmanuplandadventure8270 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Lucas, yeah it was one of the first things that went through my mind after the initial shock was being thankful it wasn’t windy too with the 18 degree temp, I believe I’d have gotten out but it would have been much more brutal for sure. No gloves (wet) would have been tough in the cold wind.

Love the dog's cooperation. No competition. And it's no fun being wet in sub-freezing temps long ways from the truck. Been there. I now pack extra clothes on every hunt, regardless of far I go.

Agreed, I always have extra clothes in the truck in case of stuff like that, I’ve fallen through the cattail ice a few times over the years.

BEST video I've watched to date this year Tim. I so enjoyed thoroughly and it resonated deeply because: 1. The dogs working in unison is special...ACE, you didn't deserve that comment so keep giving it back to Tim ;) I feel he's come a long way.....but I hunt a flusher so not super qualified. 2. That ONE second of sheer JOY when you realize your dog or dogs, have recovered a bird that was mostly HOPE. 3. When we get one the first 15 minutes of the day and the next one the last 15 minutes of the day...and grumble the 6 hours in between, then realize it was a good good day. 4. Busting it like hunters do....icy water included....hunted Iowa earlier this year and ran across a young man hunting without a dog who had wounded one...he was soaked to the knees after breaking through the ice looking for that bird....he's getting a text to come along for a day when I go back out in 2 weeks. The soul of a TRUE hunter just inspires. I congratulate you for being one of them Tim.

Thank you 😊. Very much appreciate the kind words, and yes Ace gives it to me just about everyday 😂 but I love that dog! Very nice of you to take that guy out with you, it’s tough without a dog for sure I’ve done it before years ago, it’s not easy especially finding downed birds after you do finally get to flush one. Sounds like he was putting forth his best effort to find that bird!

Nice video, Tim. Dogs, pheasants, & beautiful country. About all a guy needs to have a great day. Sometimes a pair of dry socks. 😂

Another great vid,loved the scripture at the end👍 I can relate to getting wet, a few years back, private land polluted with roosters,buddy warned me to stay away from the cattails on the frozen pond, 10 below zero found myself up to my armpits with my lab standing on the ice looking down at me like" what you doing down there boss"? Was a cold walk to truck,took a while to get out of those clothes,put on my gortex rain suit and hunted a bit longer we got our birds... Ahhhhhh memories thanks for bring that one back
@timwagenmanuplandadventure8270 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, those cattail sloughs can be tricky for sure, fallen through a few times over the years as well, the colder the weather the longer the walk back to the truck it seems. Been up to my waist but never up to the armpits, that had to be a little hairy for sure, sounds like the ice was solid enough to pull yourself out thankfully.

Another great video, Tim. Really love that when your dogs are on point and backing each other. Good shooting and great retrieves awesome habitat. Don't get much better than that.

Tim, I really like your videos and especially your dogs. Ace looks just like my Jäger and Shiloh looks like my Yati. I too live in MN and appreciate your videos done here. I really like how you capture the memory instead of just shoot birds.

All that persistence leads to good results! Even with low bird numbers Minnesota sure looks like a great place to hunt.

Thanks Ron, it is a great place to hunt for sure, we have some good habitat in parts of the state and PH keeps adding to it which I’m grateful for!

I love your videos, please keep making them. Id also be curious to hear about your dog's training regiment and which breeder(s) you went through.
@timwagenmanuplandadventure8270 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, all 3 came from Willow Creek Kennels in Little Falls, MN. No mentors really when it comes to training pointers so everything I do I’ve researched online then try to apply it to each dog, and put them on as many wild birds as possible to bring out their instinct.

You do a very good job of letting us ride along on your hunts. The dogs are a great team, and you treat them exactly the way we all should treat ours. My only problem is that it is hard on my ego to see a lefty that can outshoot me! Guess I’ll just have to swallow my manhood a bit.

I noticed your back to saying “right there” before you shoot. Didn’t hear you say that on your last video from ND if I recall and that’s your reason for that slump 😂. Walked 5 miles in Wi. this morning and only jumped one bird which I missed. My slump is still ongoing this season. What makes it frustrating is I know both things I’m doing wrong yet haven’t corrected it. Your dogs are amazing with there recovery of those birds and I know how much that means to you. I wish everyone had that same desire on cripples.Holy crap that could have been a shocker on the old gonads in that water! Awesome video.

I’ll say anything Brad to break out of a slump 😂 Yeah that dip was refreshing to say the least, really startled me at first for sure, never thought I was stepping into what I did!

I noticed you are left handed. What gun are you using? I’m looking for a left handed gun for my grandson.

12 ga. Benelli Montefeltro, I love the gun. When I went looking for a 12 ga auto with a wood stock there wasn’t much out there for a left hander, I was glad I came across the Montefeltro, nice gun!
