Thailand ruled Cambodia for almost 500 years...Vietnam and France also ruled Cambodia...Thailand gave Thai culture as an inheritance and Cambodia used it...Cambodia was a colony of Thailand...in the days when Thailand Rule Cambodia “ Thailand creates Thai arts and culture in Cambodia, it is a legacy that Thailand has created.”

And where does Thai culture come from? Tell me! Thailand is from China, Yunnan and related to Tai, why make the culture similar to Khmer ? Without Cambodia, how can Thailand create its own culture? Without Khmer , Thai culture will similar to Tai or Chinese . You see your ancient language is Khmer and Thai royal language also uses Khmer royal language , so it make us realize that Thai or Siam in the past, Thailand was influenced by Khmer culture.
I love both Cambodia and Thailand, we are the same Asians, we should love one another. Our ancient dancing arts are almost similar, and beautiful and nice just the way they are, but I love Cambodian's ancient dancing arts the most because in Cambodia they created the original ancient arts by themselves for a long time ago. They had the evidence to show the world the truth of their own creating ancient dancing arts. In Thailand also, they have their own way to create the ancient dancing arts. That's why all of us shouldn't judge each other in negative way.

Sculptures at Angkor Wat were evidences of Khmer ancient art. Those sculptures were quite difference from our Thai khon, Rabam and Lakorn. But Khmer khon are similar to Thai Khon instead of those sculptures. Khmer claim they originated Khon and Thai steal or copy Khmer. Khmer lost their culture since they were conquered by Siam troops and was a colony of Siam for 431 years. Khmer culture was influence by siam since then. In the period of Rattanakosin, Khmer princes must be sent to stay in Royal Siam Court and learnt Siam culture as well as Khon, Rabam and Lakorn. The princes returned to Cambodia accompany by Siameses Khon teachers to train khon in Khmer Royal Court. This why Khmer Khon similar to Thai instead of Angkor Wat sculptures.

@@panidadamapong9521 This is what I've been thinking for a long time. Thai Khon costumes are clearly done in the same style as traditional Thai wall fresco paintings. Cambodian frescos and statues of Angkor are clearly a different style from Thai Sukhothai and Ayutthaya art. It's a missed opportunity that Cambodian Lakhon Khol doesn't take inspiration and redesign their costumes based on Angkor style art, like what was done with the Apsara costumes. Instead they continue to use costumes that look like poor immitation of the better looking Thai costumes. It's a shame, because I think cambodian Apsara costume looks better than the Thai Surin ones. No reason why Cambodia Lakhon Khol can't look as good redesigned based on Angkor like the Apsara costumes were.

@@abmong After fallen of Angkor, Khmer left Angkor to settle many new capital cities far away from Ayutthaya and Angkor. Khmer royal family were envious and fought against each other for power, one side went to Vietnam and other side went to Ayutthaya for help. This opened an opportunity for the foreign countries to intervene Cambodia until they lost their land to Vietnam and Siam. Defeating of war and became a vassal state of Siam more than 400 years caused them did not created art and culture. Their culture and art were influenced by Siam since Ayuthaya up to the reign of King Rama IV of Jakkri Dynasty. After that Cambodia was a colony of France 90 years.

@@panidadamapong9521 Yes I'm aware of this, but today's Cambodians are trying to reclaim a sense of national identity, instead of misguidedly trying to claim Thai arts and culture as being copied/stolen from Khmer, Cambodians should look back to Angkor art and develope a uniquely Cambodian style that is more faithfully derived from that. No Thai would claim Angkor style is similar to later Ayutthaya art style. I think Lakhon Khol costumes designed with Angkor aesthetics could look really good and different from Thai Khon costumes, wich is better than what Cambodian Khol are currently using. Hell I'll design it for them if they want, I have a fine arts background, but the extreme nationists probably wouldn't want their Lakhon Khol to use costumes designed for them by a Thai...

@@abmong I agree with you, abmong. If Khmer can do as your comment, Khmer's Lakorn Khol costumes will be similar to the sculptures at Angkor Wat. It has uniqueness. It's better argue with the Thai whose Lakorn Khol belong to.

If all of us have pure hearts and souls we will produce a good relationship, But if we involved with politics or deep nationalism nobody can find a peace. There's no anyo other country of the world that have the most similarity as 🇰🇭 🇹🇭. I was in Thailand for few days in my life But i felt there is almost my home.

So you should help educate the Khmer people as well. It's a "common culture". The storyline about Ramayana of Khon & Khol, Came from Hinduism in India about 2400 years ago. "Nobody steals from anyone." We are all proud of our nation and have a duty to develop their own country without the need to compete or despise others. Please stop lying and blaming others. BTW, Thailand is always welcoming and glad you feel like home. シ

@@misterjudSome people! do you understand? You can't judge us with a small part of us. Youself as well! Some Thais I think too much and too much feel nationalism. They also lied the people about the truth of Khmer. When you lost some former Khmer provinces they didn't tell the truth what's wrong with those. But they considered us as the occupied land criticized yours. We know the history! in our education system they don't have hate speech over Thais. You know? So where was this born? It's political. And Thai don't have hate speech at their education system either. That's why it happens? It is level of political as well. I know some famous Thai historians, they almost have no problems with Khmer. But some unknown Thais historians with nowhere they always think bad on us. Some of them need to separated from Khmer influence history. I know that Thai history and cultures can't not be separated from Khmer. I know it's Indian influence, in level of history they don't. Because Thai got it directly from Khmer not India. we have to realise it. And Khmer themselves during the Ayothaya was also have some Thai influence. Just some ignorant Khmer who don't know anything of these. But for me it's just the history.

@@champaputih4568 As i said, "Develop their own country" It doesn't have to quote any history at all. It even existed before it was a country. All the good things in your country were almost completely destroyed 40 years ago. All knowledge is burned, All the knowledgeable people were killed. Yes, it is very sad for us as well. And as you have mentioned. Now you tell me, After the fall of the Khmer Rouge. Where did the current Khol performances come from? Who taught you to dance? From the stone castle wall? Or dig it up from the Killing Field? Nah, Most of it from us, from Thais. And you are not grateful to Thais at all. It's OK. We always help when requested, We never had any problems with anyone until some Khmer accused us of stealing. That was the origin of hate speech.!! It's going to be a lot easier. I know there were the mass massacre during the Khmer Rouge, But they didn't kill own cultures except religion. We knew we just a central arena between two poles and two Communisms (China and Soviet) practised their own games. Because CIA KZB and Viet agents were almost everywhere in Cambodia that nobody could not identify them. They created and released faked news and blame games almost every part of the country. Finally nobody's trust each other anymore. All of these agents were deeply taken root in Cambodia. You can judge Khmer Rouge soldiers, That's why they believed in Pol Pot and fight for him till the last minute of his life? Because that was a result from the blame game and cool war between two giants and too communism.
