Great jet! Really. But what do you think about Pilatus PC 24? Isn't a big competitor to Phenom 300E? Same class, same size, same altitude, almost same speed and more, more is the same. And plus PC 24 can land on gravel, or grass runway. ;)
@windingtrail93195 жыл бұрын
It is a competitor, but I don't know too much. I think I N. America the Phenom will still dominate. But in air ambulance or maybe other regions where non paved landings may be necessary. I do think the Phenom has a slight efficiency advantage over the PC 24. That is what separates the Phenom 300 from the CJ4, and a better cabin IMO.
@SergioSilva-zc6id5 жыл бұрын
First and foremost, many thanks to Chad for his videos. They are really awesome and helpful for anyone immersed in the Phenom world. Now, about the PC24 and Phenom 300, they look incredibly similar but have their differences. The PC24 has a shorter take-off distance than the phenom300 and as mentioned before by Algirdas, it can land on different types of runways. The PC24 also requires less runway for landing than the Phenom300. They cost about the same, their range is almost identical. cabin size is bigger on the PC24 and the huge cargo door is a big plus as a multipurpose aircraft. However, cabin comfort may be an issue due to its multipurpose role. Phenom300 would provide more comfort and amenities than the PC24. Don't get me wrong - the PC24 can be customized too for comfort but I think Embraer has a lead here. There are more than 500 Phenom300 in service around the world - it is a well known jet, with a very high dispatch rate and where all details have been worked out and enhanced. The PC24 is still very new and needs to prove itself in time as a reliable aircraft. As for the cockpit, Phenom300 uses Garmin3000 now and previously it used Garmin as well, an avionics package that many other manufacturers also use - which means that pilots can get comfortable very quickly on the Phenom if they have flown other jets since they know the avionics involved. On the other hand, the PC24 uses a "Pilatus Advanced Cockpit Environment", whatever that means. I guess because it was manufactured in Switzerland, they're using some European avionics that may not be known to pilots in the US and therefore, service and support may not be that easy to find (aside from the training). And of course, we have the service issue. If something goes wrong, how long before the plane can fly again? Who services it? Embraer is everywhere and their support service is phenom-enal. Therefore, from a buyer perspective, who looks for proven reliability, high dispatch rate, cost-efficient, and promptly service, the Phenom300 shines on all of these. And this is my humble opinion... I forgot to mention the absence of a kitchen and a very weird toilet in the PC24 will definitely scare away several customers.

@@SergioSilva-zc6id Pilatus uses a slightly tweaked version of the Honeywell epic 2.0 avionics just like how embraer tweaks the Garmin systems to suite their jets and no Honeywell is not some small avionics manufacturer from Europe. They literally own the whole avionics market everything from bombardier, gulfstream, dassault, many of the citation and hawker jets, all bigger private jets from embraer, pilatus and many more business aviation manufacturers use Honeywell and in airline sector airbus, Boeing, embraer, bombardier, comac, sukhoi and many other use Honeywell avionics. That being said i think corporate buyers will still prefer the phenom as even if you want the pilatus PC24 it is very hard to get your hands on the pilatus. When pilatus opened the order book for the PC24 in 2014 they sold 84 aircrafts in one and a half days and they closed their order book immediately cause they couldn't handle that many orders and when they opened the order book in 2019 the orders got filled again in a few days and they claim aircraft which will be delivered until 2021 are all booked, so when they open their order books in the future god knows when, you might be able to order one....

Damn! That's a fair amount to keep track of. Do you have to do any type of continuing ed, like for software updates, or anything? How many years have you been flying, and what are some of the best changes you've seen in aviation? How often do you get to fly? Like times per month? Thanks for taking the time!
@windingtrail93195 жыл бұрын
I usually fly 3-4 times a week. Usually just over 350hours a year. I did fly over 600 hours in a year when we still had CJ2+. I do have to do recurrent training minimum once a year. Had to take a avionics class, and work on that myself. I have been flying for pay for 27 years. I actually took my commercial pilot check ride on leap day 1992. I’ll try and get back on best things in aviation.

Nice video. But I was very surprised with all that fancy gadgetry that your electrical schematic page doesn't tell you how many amps you're drawing. Thanks for the walkthrough, what’s the Phenom like in snow and ice conditions? When I fly it in MSFS ‘20 the pitot tube freezes over and I loose airspeed even with my heats on, trying to figure out if thats a bug of the simulation or a real-world attribute of the Phenom. Thanks

The Phenom is not that great, brakes still suck after many revisions to the software, no reverse, and light jets have them thankfully, Lear 24,25, Beechjet 400,Citatiin 500 and so on, interior fit and finish lacking, uncomfortable cockpit, my old 5,000 dollar Camry has a better climate control than this 9 mill piece
@anthonyg55773 жыл бұрын
Yes I know Citation
@windingtrail93193 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you've flown, But I've flown all three of planes you listed. And none come close to the Phenom 300. Learn the brake system and be a professional pilot. If you can't use the brakes on a Phenom 300, get a CDL and drive a truck. Have you been in the cockpit of a Lear 20 series?! or a 500 or 525 Citation? The Phenom is more comfortable. I'll give the Beechjet that, but no range and underpowered, unless its converted with Williams engines, then no reverse. Its been a few years since flying the Lear 24E, I cant remember the climate control because 2 minutes after takeoff your fuel critical. The Citations I flown make you feel like you've died and gone to heaven on the Phenom. No plane is perfect, but of the planes you listed no way.

I flew freight in the Lear and Falcon back in 99, I don’t want to drive a truck, don’t mean to offend, it’s all good, The Phenom has its good points I just don’t care for it
