Such an amazing fish, colors are more apparent with plants in the background. This is something I will look into keeping once I established a planted tank.

They are gorgeous Diva. Can't take my eyes off them. I want to bring it up to 100 before I properly feature it. I'm going to be live 9am (UK time) Tuesday next week on Aqua Mate's channel though. He invited me to do an episode of his Aqua Mate Experience series and the tank will be in the background if you want a sneak peek. 😉

Very nice. I am going looking for fish next week as the problem with heavily planted tanks is fish like to hide. I will have a look at these little ones when I visit Sweet Knowle Aquatics. It's the best place in the Midlands.
@DanielKeepingFish4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I have a group of Emerald Green Rasbora. Amazing looking fish but incredibly shy. They only come out of their planty hide when they are being fed at this stage. These Pheonix Rasbora seem quite comfortable out in the open at least without any fish they perceive as a threat present. Hope you find something you like, sounds like a great store.

Dear Daniel: I’ve considered keeping pygmy or dwarf rasboras (Boraras maculatus) or a similar species in my, 10-gallon, Fluval Stratum tank. This substrate does lower the pH, somewhat. However, I don’t believe this will keep it low enough, long-term. I also like to keep the filtration high, which they wouldn’t appreciate. These species are very interesting, micro-fish. Thank you for giving us a terrific, species profile of the phoenix rasbora (Boraras merah). All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
@DanielKeepingFish4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much E. J. Yes the Maculata are very nice too. All the Rasbora are to be honest, definately one of my favorite fish. They can adjust to slightly higher pH but higher flow rates will tire them and blow them about being tiny wee things. Certainly a fish worth considering though.
@ejbrinegar4 жыл бұрын
Dear Daniel: Yes, I've seen that Pecktec keeps them successfully and he lives in the state next to mine. His channel is here: kzbin.info/door/Z7k8u2sRf7HS1xXQyuLJVg Pecktec's water is likely similar to mine. I may try some of these species some time. Thank you. Sincerely, Brinegar

@@DanielKeepingFish Them's the fellas. They were a bit pricey so I was scared they would be fragile - but no. I've had them a while now without any problems and they're still happily bobbing about! Love them to bits. I like the look of the blue variant and chilli rasboras also... Thanks for introducing me to the phoenix rasboras. Just when you think you've seen it all....

Should I add them with silvertip tetras? It’s a densely planted 30g tank with neocardinia.
@DanielKeepingFish2 жыл бұрын
I was about to say I wouldn't do it since they can be a wee bit aggressive but if you're keeping them with shrimp without any problems it might be fine. Maybe give it a go. Keep a good eye on them and have a backup plan if the Tetra get a bit boisterous.
@dynamicdeadhead Жыл бұрын
Do you think a group of these could be paired with a pea puffer? Thanks!
@DanielKeepingFish Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't want to say 100%, sometimes you get a particularly agressing fish but I kept Chilli Rasbora with Pea Puffers and it was fine. Chillis are almost identical to Phenonix Rasbora so I would say it should be fine.
