Fun Fact: Pep once said that Foden is the most talented youth player he has couched. Pep as we know him is perhaps the greatest Messi fanboy out there. So when you put that into context, you understand how special he truly is. Nonetheless, he is yet to live up to his potential. He is a very good player right now but I belive that he is well capable of winning a Ballon d'or.

Similar, but more like Hazard. Foden’s touch is harsh and the knees are always bent bc he’s flexing his hamstrings too much while running hence the “stepping” motion he shows like hazard. While Messi maintains a more vertical torso while running.

With all due respect to foden but messi at his age was dribbling 5-7 players twice per Game. Ran trough towards opposition goal from the middle while getting kicked by 3 players and managed to get a pass through on goal to another barca player. Fodens running and agility style is more similar to Hazard. The only one who i saw could dribble as stupidly as messi at that age was ben arfa and he only was a fraction of what messi was

They look similar, but due to pep having a very strict system, especially in his contemporary style, they will probably never be the same player as young Messi. Very similar, but as someone who has been watching Messi, they are definitely much different. While foden definitely has amazing close ball control, Messi’s really was on another level. As I watch some of these plays, rather than getting past with magical dribbling, some of them are definitely due to him being much faster, which some might not see the difference, but Messi’s acceleration was probably the fastest in his prime with the ball at his feet. Definitely not the fastest player, but unlike other players who had to slow down as they faced a defender, Messi would still be at full speed with the ball at his feet as he dribbled past a player. But yeah, under pep Messi’s as a complete different player, he wasn’t a winger, and played through the middle. Like if I saw this from a causal perspective I would say they play the exact same, but if we’re talking about system under pep, they are pretty different since they obviously had different roles, and one is obviously better at everything, since he’s probably the GOAT. But yeah, foden’s i always thought it was weird how little he played for man city and England even tho he was so good, when he played.
