Wow Doctor Phil Thank you. I have always seen myself as damaged goods. So much has happened to me . I was molested raped married & cheated on several times & kicked punched by the man I lived . I divorced him but I just always felt like damaged Gouda . I saw myself like a dented can with rust & shreds of rotting metal inside . I will seek that test

This concept needs to be ingrained into children. How does one PREVENT these injuries from occuring in the first place? WHAT do we say to permeate self worth, self love, strength in self to our youth?

Thanks Dr. Phil I needed this! I just turned 60 years old and I’ve been divorced since 2009. My sons obviously live with their fiancés and I had a roommate who was 20 years older and was out in a nursing home last December with dementia 😢 I can’t take being alone I literally cry hard every night I just don’t like living alone I have two wonderful dogs and a great family that keeps in touch we’re close but the bottom line is I’m alone in a house in the country. I had to live alone in an apartment for a few years about 8 years ago and I never got use to it cried all the time I would go to the casino cuz I didn’t like being home alone at night I would just take $20 and play a nickel at a time just to be around people…I was abused as a child for many years similar to Joyce Meyers story and I would party on weekends wen I got older to numb the pain 😢 I became a hair stylist and then my brother wanted me to go with him to the Police Academy in Detroit …I ended up becoming a police officer for 29 years… I married a police officer and we were together for 22 years and he left me when my son developed an addiction….I couldn’t handle it I lost 30 lbs in one month and cried everyday in a fetal position for over 2 years I could barely function I don’t even remember much of my life at that time 😢 Oh well, I ended up with a duty disability from the police department (PTSD) from the sexual harassment and assaults at work by another officer who admitted to everything and they fired him! I could not work anymore they said in fact the judge decided my case right at the hearing and it usually takes months to get a decision! He said at the time I couldn’t even answer phone calls 😞 I’ve been gone from the Police department for 8 years just yanked out no retirement party no goodbyes nothing just like my divorce abandoned 😢 My son is clean they are both amazing young men I love them so much I have 1 granddaughter and 1 on the way 😊🙏🏻 I need to find a purpose, hope I need someone to live with me I’m going to listen to all of your podcasts ❤ I’m very different I don’t see a point in living alone it’s useless and so sad and lonely this is just like prison…pray for me Dr. Phil 🙏🏻God Bless you and your family your wonderful you have helped so many people and still are…ps…I am in therapy have been for a long time I don’t think it really helps much oh and I’m a good looking lady too lol just had to let ya know I do get hit on a lot but I’m shy and I can’t even do dating apps 👋❤️❤️❤️

Dr. Phil, it is a true miracle that your father as an alcoholic was able to die sober. Most alcoholics die drunk. And his words to you were a gift of the grace and dignity that AA restores to the alcoholic who is sick and suffering. You carry and project his message for you very well. And without a shadow of a doubt, I can tell you that he changed his thinking 365゚ that he had to ditch his old ideas for new ones. That he had to learn how to be a part of instead of apart from. He had to learn how to live life on life's terms. He had to learn how to be less selfish and have interest in other people. He did have to become entirely willing to keep the plug in the job one day at a time. He had to let go of the embarrassment guilt and shame that he caused you, your family, and all others. Your dad, with a new way of thinking and enough self-forgiveness, became able to see what he saw in you to tell you about Dr. Phil. And for that I too am truly grateful for the spirit of AA that touched your life :)
