Comics are HARD to make. Thank you Phil Jimenez for sharing your process!

I agree with Old,this is the nuts and bolts of story telling,it's not just pretty pictures,its all about the story,great vid,hats off to mr. Jimenez for being such a fantastic artist and teacher.
@3chainz4419 жыл бұрын
I noticed a lot of his layout pages have many panels. DC stories tend to get that way so you have Phil here brainstorming doing extremely technical layouts and sometimes more than one through his process. Seems he's extremely good at modifying stuff on the fly too but he obviously knows what he's doing. Its hard work, thats why they have editors and it helps to have a great art team. NIce vid!

there is one step between script and layouts,and that would be gathering of reference images.which of course is dictated by the plot itself. and the you move on to the stage that mr jimenez is demonstrating so masterfully. bravo,mr jimenez,bravo.

Hey everyone. Thanks for checking out the channel and hope you all enjoy what you find. As I have been interviewing creators there have been a number of them who are homosexual. As far as I am concerned their work speaks for itself. As with all the creators I've interviewed they have all been people whom I look up to and whose work has inspired me. Phil is a great artist and teacher and I'm happy to call him a friend.

Those are some great layouts. I wonder if Phil has embraced digital and if that is helping folks "stay on the same page"-- literally.

@DirtyMotorOil Anatomy books are pretty easy to find. Most bookstores will have them. Amazon surely will.

Is he working on 11x17 Inch bristol board or does he draw on the original US-Comic size page format?
@thecomicarchive8 жыл бұрын
+snakemont for his layouts he doesn't work on Bristol. I think he just uses printer paper but I could be wrong.
@thecomicarchive8 жыл бұрын
+snakemont just to be clear though, his layouts are small but the actual pencil pages he hands off to his inker are at 11x17.

i worked on short 6-paged comics once and laying frames and pages were a pain, next time i'll ask them for a script. Storytelling isn't about me.

A great look into the thought process and actual working method of a talented comic book artist. Personally, I don't understand why anybody's sexual orientation would affect your appreciation of their work. I would love to have sat at a piano next to Freddie Mercury or Elton John as they describe how they go about writing a song. The same is true of any artist whose work I admire - gay or otherwise.

I've been searching mad on youtube for a couple years now anything and everything sequential art. I have a couple doc's on Todd McFarlane and Jack Kirby saved to my fav list. Point being I think anyone who digs deep enough to this lvl of youtube is a little more serious and won't take something like a creators sexuality into consideration...but once again I scroll to the comments below before clicking post and the users prove me wrong, for shame dudes.

@hajar9911 I don't think being racist or sexist has anything to do with it :D Homophobic maybe. But hey, it's an observation. I paid attention to his voice too when I watched these videos but it doesn't mean you're a jerk or prejudiced or something.
