Without a doubt, his release is lightning quick, his hand eye coordination unreal and his skating speed top notch but his vision is what makes him different. Vision ques his timing. Happy for his recent success in Pittsburgh.

He's became a more complete player in Pittsburgh in my opinion. He doesn't seem to be getting goals as much, but he is setting up plays left and right. I love it.

Bobby T. He was like that in Toronto too, most of the seasons with the Leafs consisted of him finishing with more assists than goals. He just scored more because there was nobody else there that could and he was the main scorer (the player the leafs turned to for offense). Might I add that I think Kessel could very much still be a 30 goal scorer again if he is played the right way, he is also a guy that hates to be selfish and playing with amazing talent like Crosby and Malkin only gets him to look for them more rather than him shooting all the time. If u look at his stats his shots have decreased each year. He was always a complete player, so enjoy him while us Leafs are still paying part of his contract for you guys :) and how about you win that cup too, dont let Subban touch that thing.

Nice remember here. Now he has reached 300th goal in NHL. Congrats "The Man" ...

He still has that unreal wrister. He just became more playmaker with first-pass mentality.

Well defined, thats a UNREAL wrister, REALLY!

he needs to let that monster shot go a lot more! he could easily be a 50 goal scorer, but hey.. Phil Kessel is still a 2x Stanley cup champ!

Nobody seems to notice what a great playmaker Kessel has become with the Pens. He's got a couple of superstars to set up and taking advantage. Last season was his most assists in his career with 47.

I find that a lot of Pens fan dont know that he was always a great playmaker. the pens didnt make him one. he always passed more than he shot. He has more career assists than he does goals and has 2 other 40+ assist seasons with Toronto. That aint their fault tho for thinking this because most Leafs fans themselves didnt realize how much he actually passed when he was here in Toronto, most shitty fans just cried and called him a puck hog bc he scored a lot, not even realizing that he always had more assists.

Kessel - a big part of the big team of our time, the Pens. Some of those Malkin passes and set ups were so ridiculously choice, though.

Phil passes more in Pittsburgh. He doesn't have to be that guy & get all the goals like he did in TO. He still has the shot, he still has the speed, I think he's a better overall player now than he was in Toronto & he excels in his role in Pitt.

I agree and disagree tbh, he doesn't have to be the guy anymore true but with Phil, around the 2nd year with the Leafs his ability to pass was starting to show on the score sheet. From than on he always ended with more assists than goals but that was always overlooked. If im not mistaken he finished with over 40 assists twice in a Leafs uniform and not to mention one year was also 48 games so he didnt get a fair shot to crack 40 in that season either. He got 47 apples last year its insane but I guess the point im tryna get across here is that he always had 50 assists seasons in him but now he just has a lot more players to pass to in Pittsburgh than he did in Toronto. Which was pretty much just JvR.

What some people fail to notice is that phil kessel wasn't a bad player in toronto. He was miscast. If Babcock had a chance with him I think he could be doing better in Toronto, because of all of the prospects that we have now and that he would have more sheltered pairings. (Not saying I want him back tho, i enjoy that cap space)
