A magical partnership Phil Rizzuto & Bill White. Nothing has ever come close since. These guys like Phil met Babe Ruth I wonder what that was like...

I know a lot about Yankee broadcasters but when the names of all the broadcast partners of Rizzuto were read off, one name I've never heard of was Pam Bouche. Something I read once indicated she was a part of radio broadcasts in 1977. I could be mistaken but she may have been a comic, similar to Carol Wayne appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Sort of a stereotypical female color commentator asking dumb questions. Actually, the Yankees did have movie star Joe E. Brown on broadcasts for one season back in the early 1950s. Again, I could be thinking of something else.

There is one mistake in Baseball terminology that Phil would often make. At the end of an inning in which no runs were scored but base hits and/or errors occurred he would say “nothing across.” This is incorrect. “ Nothing Across “ means nothing across the SCORECARD. If a hit or error occurred in the inning there was SOMETHING across, even though no runs were scored. I wish Mel Allen corrected him on this! Phil was still the greatest!

I see what you mean. Rizzuto meant that nothing crossed the plate, but things did happen.

I agree with Phil, there was nothing across. There are broadcasters today who say a pitcher struck out the side when more than 3 batters came to the plate. They did not strike out the side.
