Phil Robertson

Phil Robertson

3 жыл бұрын

Phil is VERY particular about how jambalaya should be made. He shares his recipe in a way you won't see in any cookbook. Jase says there are three factors that guarantee success with this recipe, and the guys agree that the key to good cooking is a chef with thick skin. Al shares Jase and Willie's fast-food strategy. Phil reveals the secret to how he keeps up with the culture. And the Unashamed team talks about being generous to your neighbor and how good food and hospitality can be used to start conversations about Jesus.

@@JoyNoelle. Too be fair it's hard to find a good church these days. Especially ones that won't judge you or look down on you. And ones that aren't liberal and teach the wrong messages. I know how he feels. I lost faith in most churches the last year or so. Especially the big ones like Elevation and Hillsong.

2 lbs bacon cut in chunks uncooked 2 packs of sausage cut in chunks uncooked 1 lb ground sausage Chicken thighs no skin no bone cut in chunks 4 large onion Garlic optional 1 bell pepper 4 sticks of celery Chop all vegetables don’t mix onion with bell pepper and celery 1 quart of tomatoes 8 cups of rice 5 cans of chicken broth (10 cups of fluid) 2 lbs of shrimp Green onions 10-12 quart iron pot Over high heat, use bacon grease to fry bacon. After bacon is browned, cook your other meats one at a time. Add vegetables, onions first. Let onions soften, not brown. Add bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Add tomatoes. Add seasoning of choice. All meat and veggies will be cooking in pot together for 12-15 minutes. Add rice to the pot with meat and vegetables. Add 10 cups of chicken broth. Allow it to come to a boil. Turn fire to low, medium low. Every 3 minutes rake the bottom so your rice doesn’t burn. Rice should be fluffy not crunchy. Stir in shrimp and onions. Turn off heat put lid on and DO NOT OPEN LID FOR 30 MINUTES. The heat in the pot will cook the shrimp.

1:15 - 9:25 ingredients: 2lbs bacon, 2 pack link sausage, 1 pack ground sausage, skinless and boneless chicken thigh (chunks), 10 quart pot, seasoning of choice, 4 large onion, 1 bell pepper, garlic, 3-4 stick of celery, 3/4 of a quart canned tomatoes(optional), 8 cup of rice, 10 cups of chicken broth, peeled shrimp 9:30- 23:10 cook cut all meat up, onions separate from others, keep bacon grease, 4 tablespoons in pot with bacon, stir with thick spatula, cook sausages and chicken after bacon, put 4 onions in same pot while meat is in till soft, then vegetables in, dump in tomatoes, season not too much, make 12-15 min, cook peeled shrimp (optional) in same pot put all rice with fluid already in there, then add 10 cups of chicken broth at medium heat, begin to boil broth, put on lid and watch so it wont stick, keep on low to low-medium, every 3 min rake the bottom of pot, all fluid is beginning to get soaked by now, check rice to be fluffy(estimated to be 30 min of stirring), dump in 2 lbs shrimp with heat off for 3 min, estimated total time 2 hours, better on second day due to flavor being soaked up. Just saving this for later so I can know what I need to do and for people in the comments.

I love this conversation about giving and tithing! People need to change their mindset. It's about faith!! I'm a single mother who was in financial bondage just 3 years ago. I decided to tithe and maybe not have enough money for food, and God provided! It's not always with increased money, sometimes it's in His favor. He just makes a way! Now i'm free from those chains and I bless others any time I can. I don't care if they're Christians or not. I'll pay for the person behind me at McDonalds, I'll fill a young mom's gas tank, and so on. When you let go of it He gives you so much more. I don't say this to brag about me, it's all to the Glory of God who has freed me! Love ya'll!!

10qt pot 1. 2 lbs bacon cut into lardons 2. Cut up Sausage (6 links) 3. 1lb ground sausage 4. Chunk up chicken thigh and season 5. 4 large onions 6. 1 bell pepper + 3-4 stalks of celery 7. Quart of tomatoes 8. 8 cups of rice 9. 10 cups of chicken broth 10. 2 lbs of shrimp with 2 racks of green onions 1. Fry bacon. When it's browned add rest of meat and brown. 2. Add onions to meat until softened and translucent. Then add bell pepper and celery until softened. Then add tomatoes. Season to taste. Simmer 12-15 minutes. Stir to prevent sticking. 3. Pour rice into mixture and stir to coat. Add broth. Bring to a boil on medium heat then lower heat to a simmer (low to low medium). Every 3 minutes X 8-10 times you stir to make sure nothing is burning then put lid back on. 4. When rice is fluffy and still a little moist add shrimp and green onions and mix it well. Go 3 more minutes then turn fire off but leave the lid on for 30 minutes.

I have watched your podcast for a long time. You have been with me thru good times and trying times in my life. I look forward to the discussions and the days there isn't a new podcast, I watch an older one. Today I made Phil's Jambalaya...I love how he gives details on exactly what to do. I have never made a Jambalaya, but this is so delicious. I am so thankful for your family. Our kids have all flown the nest, we are in our late 40s and we move a lot with my husband's job. It is hard to move and start over and can be very lonely.. You make me feel like I am home no matter where we are living. I praise God for you!

My grandmother and great grandmother both lived far into their 90's and ate Butter and cooked in fat all their lives ! don't let them fool you !! there is nothing wrong with fat, there is everything wrong with vegetable oil and margarine. Meat cheese and butter wont hurt you one bit !

Yea , i remember Justin Wilsons cooking show too . Remember he would "add a little wine" . Then add a little more wine . The first time i had authentic Cajun Jambalaya , was at CharlieO's in Tyler , Tx. During my 18th Birthday Party .Excellent stuff best i have had so far. Back then drinking age was 18 .

Never watched the show but found this podcast looking for "bible/Jesus" info and started with Episode 1 and am here. Thank you for the word! Have learned so much and have gotten many answers to my questions. I'm a Cajun and love your jambalaya story, reminds me when I worked in the oilfield overseas and here. I would make jambalaya for the rig hands when overseas when I could find some ingredents and in North Dakota and west Texas when I worked in the States. Everyone loved this dish! That and a Gumbo!

I just made the jambalaya and it is amazing. Not to much not to little only thing I didn’t add was the shrimp. I did add garlic and smoked paprika because we love it. If you make this you WILL NOT be disappointed

Love the detailed recipe Phil. I was born and raised and still live in north LA. About 30 min down the road from W. Monroe and I have never attempted jambalaya. You have inspired me to make it using your recipe. Love you guys and enjoy listening on my commute to and from work. God bless y'all.
